Rewarding Recap: Son of Carl, Southwest Rebates, and a Future HHonors Sale?

Some of these are more recent than others, but I’ve been traveling this past weekend without much of a break to write. Here are some of the better offers for free points, contests, and other limited-time promotions.

New Girl in the Air shares an opportunity to get 4,500 Club Carlson points if you join by May 31 and use promo code ERWD2012. This could come in particularly handy if you are hoping to get in on the next Club Carlson promotion to earn 50,000 points after a single night’s stay as Mommy Points has speculated and recently confirmed. While I registered for this last year, I never bothered to complete the stay since it seemed like a waste (I didn’t need the hotel room). This time, I may find a way to make that qualifying stay more useful. Since there aren’t any points in my account, I can probably just sign up for a new one and get the 4,500 bonus! If nothing else, you can turn 54,500 points into 8,500 airline miles.

I think I already mentioned this, but Wandering Aramean reminds us that US Airways and Disney are hosting a contest to earn 1,000,000 US Airways miles. You don’t actually have to purchase a Disney vacation package in order to enter.

Deals We Like shares a bonus offer from Southwest Airlines for 3,000 extra points on roundtrip flights departing from or arriving at Atlanta, Denver, Burbank, Los Angeles, Ontario, and Orange County. That 3,000 points is worth an equivalent of $50 when redeemed for a “Wanna Get Away” fare, so that’s a significant rebate.

Live from a Lounge shares that Hilton’s Great Getaway Sale is returning in just a few days’ time. It’s not quite official, but it does appear that some relevant information advertising discounts of up to 40% off has already been loaded onto Hilton’s website.

The Points Guy tells us that Canadian residents with an American Express card can now transfer Membership Rewards points with a 50% bonus to British Airways Avios. For those of you prefer to pay for your tickets, please remember that if you travel down to SeaTac for a cheaper flight ex-USA, it is considered a rude to park your car in driveway to the parking garage. The shuttle bus driver last night was none too pleased. (Yes, it was a BC plate.)

Frugal Travel Guy is giving away 2,500 American Airlines miles courtesy to the reader who posts the best AA deal of the day before midnight EDT. He also shares a few other AA deals, like a $200 credit when you book a vacation package to the US Virgin Islands and 5,500 miles when you fly to San Diego and book a 4-night stay at the Hyatt Aviara. There are deals like this all the time, but if you were thinking of going anyway…
