Rewarding Recap: 3X PC Points, Sheraton Sale, DPQM on US, and 50K from AmEx

A better title for this post is “What did I miss?” because I was disconnected for most of the holiday weekend. Fortunately there have been tons of great miles and points deals, so I encourage you to scan the list. Since I don’t have the time to post on every one of them (that’s a good thing… it means I’m getting call backs for my job interviews) we will have to rely on my Rewarding Recap series for now. Hopefully I got most of them….

Win Two Nights at the Park Hyatt Goa – Live from a Lounge

AJ is giving away two nights at the Park Hyatt Goa, which he recently reviewed. Your opportunity to enter ends on September 9. Fortunately for those who don’t win, this is a great example of a Category 4 Park Hyatt. There are several of these properties, including the Park Hyatt Melbourne, that you can stay at using the annual free night certificate if you hold a Hyatt Visa credit card.

50K MR Points for Premier Rewards Gold AmEx – View from the Wing

Gary was the first to share (to my knowledge) news about an improved offer for those applying for a Premier Rewards Gold American Express card. This offer is for 50K Membership Rewards points after spending $5,000 in three months. While 75K offers do exist from time to time, this is one of the better opportunities. You must apply by November 26, so there is NO RUSH.

Book a UA Package to Las Vegas and Win 100,000 Miles

I just got this in my email. Package deals aren’t always the best in my book, especially since you don’t get hotel stay credit. But for a place like Vegas, there are so many promotions and non-chain hotels that it probably doesn’t matter. If you book a package by October 31 and stay between September 8 and January 31 you can win one of 10 prizes of 100,000 miles.

Sheraton 75th Anniversary Sale – LoyaltyLobby

When I originally came across this offer, I struggled to find any participating hotels, and others seemed to be having similar frustrations. However, John has made a good effort at finding some locations where the anniversary rate is a good deal. You must stay for 3-6 nights and book by November 14 for travel between now and January 31.

Fly Business Class to Europe for Under $1,500 – MileValue

Several people have mentioned the opportunity to purchase miles from TACA’s LifeMiles program at 1.5 cents each. Normally they are 3 cents each, and there is a 2X bonus for accounts opened before September 3 (I already checked and opened my own account; this rule is being enforced). I like Scott’s post at MileValue because it provides a good walkthrough of how to buy 60% of the miles you need for an award at an even lower rate of 1.28 cents.

Double Preferred Qualifying Miles on US Airways Shuttle

Like it says, earn 2X PQM on all shuttle flights operated by US Airways between Boston, New York-LGA, and Washington-DCA between now and October 31. You must register for this offer.

Triple Priority Club Points in Spain and Portugal – LoyaltyLobby

There’s a great offer out there for those visiting one of my favorite destinations. Personally I’m saving up some SPG points for award redemptions when I go next year, but those of you interested in the earn side of that equation may choose to stay at a Priority Club hotel instead.

Free Taxi Ride in NYC – The Points Guy

Uber is a taxi reservations service from the West Coast that is launching in NYC. As part of this process, they are offering a free $25 taxi ride and $10 sign-up bonus to NYC customers (presumably even if you’re just visiting) between now and next Wednesday. How will Uber fare in its new market? The NY Times indicates that its business model may not meet local regulations, so stay tuned.

Earn 3,000 Miles for Admirals Club Membership – AAdvantageGeek

I’ve enjoyed having my United Club membership, but for those of you planning to buy an American Airlines Admirals Club pass, consider this offer to get 3,000 points when you sign up. It’s only available for new members by September 30, not renewals, but it doesn’t appear to be targeted, either.

40% Transfer Bonus for Membership Rewards Conversion to BA Avios – Deals We Like

As she indicates, this isn’t the best offer out there, but it’s pretty good compared to recent offers. Those of you with plans to book Avios travel in the near future should consider if this works for you. Transfers must be made by September 27. Avios points are particularly useful for short, nonstop domestic flights on American Airlines and other BA partners.

An Easy 2,000 Priority Club Points – Point Me to the Plane

Adam shares two easy ways to earn 1,000 Priority Club points for 2,000 points total. I’ve already completed the survey, which seemed to be broken at first but has improved. I have yet to try the video, but Adam provides a code that should work for most people even if they weren’t targeted.

Get a $10 Starbucks Gift Card for $5

Finally, there is a limited-time LivingSocial deal today only offering a $10 Starbucks gift card for only $5. I got one but lost the referral code. If anyone wants to find my Twitter post and use that, I’ll get my voucher for free after three people use it. If you want to share your own referral link, feel free to post it in the comments below.

Thanks Scott! I have had 1 person use my starbucks referral but if anyone else wants to use it – here it is!

  • Ko

I like the new layout and logo. Very cool.

    • Scottrick

Thanks, Ko, and it was great meeting you last week! (Ko gave me some B787 swag that I’ll be including in an upcoming giveaway.) I’m impressed myself that I was able to cobble it together despite having absolutely no programming experience beyond my TI-84+ BASIC skills.

Used your link, Lairdb. If anyone wants to help a brother out:

  • truthiness

your AMEX link is to mommypoints for the Biz Gold MR card (referral link). Gary over at View from the Wing is also using a referral link.

    • Scottrick

Thanks. I had multiple windows open and must have gotten them crossed. (One of the perks of self-hosting is that my blog does not look like all the others, whether that’s a good or bad thing). I’ve corrected the link.

  • truthiness

And your new design is much better for mobile viewing; it loads much faster on an iPhone.

    • Scottrick

Thanks! I still think it needs work, maybe I can find a way to create a separate mobile theme (anyone with experience: your advice would be greatly appreciated). The current version just shrinks everything and moves it around on a phone. The header, for example, looks nice here but is really a PoS as far as the programming is cobbled together.

    I like your new format.
