Chase Freedom is one of the better rewards cards without an annual fee. It offers 5X rewards on a variety of rotating categories, including Amazon.com through December 31 — perfect for the holidays!
You can also get a $15 statement credit for a limited time when you use your Chase Freedom card and Visa Checkout to shop online.
This offer is available through December 31, and there are many participating merchants, including Williams-Sonoma, Neiman Marcus, Fandango, and others.
Points earned with Chase Freedom are part of the Ultimate Rewards program — one of my favorite bank-operated rewards programs. Although in theory you can only use the points for cash back, those who also carry another Ultimate Rewards card, such as the Sapphire Preferred (or those who have a spouse with this card), can combine the points and transfer them to an airline or hotel loyalty program.
Flexible award programs that don’t commit you to any one airline or hotel make it easier to accumulate more points in one place and save them until you find the award availability you need. Can’t get United to open award space for the holidays? You can transfer the points to British Airways and book on American or Alaska, too. Your vacation destination doesn’t have a Hyatt? Marriott and IHG are also partners.
Sapphire Preferred lets you earn 2X points on all travel and restaurant expenses, making it a great card for frequent flyers. Combined with the Chase Freedom card and its rotating shopping categories, it’s easy to accumulate lots of Ultimate Rewards points for your next vacation.

Some readers may be eligible for a sign up bonus of 10,000 points for the Chase Freedom or 40,000 points for the Chase Sapphire Preferred. The $95 annual fee for the Chase Sapphire Preferred is waived the first year. Offers current as of November 3, 2015.
