Edit: There are reports that Vayama is canceling at least some of the reservations made using this fare due to an incorrect filing by Air Canada. The deal appears to be dead.
News flash! Mistake fare in progress to Brussels (BRU) on Vayama. This is not showing up on ITA or most other search engines, but you can use Kayak and click through to Vayama to book. Vayama is lesser known, but it is still a legitimate online travel agency.
Note that most of these discount fares are on Air Canada routing through Toronto (YYZ) and/or Montreal (YUL), then on Brussels Airlines for the transatlantic portion. If you are a United/Continental frequent flyer, you will earn 100% RDM/EQM for the Air Canada segments but only 50% RDM/EQM for Brussels Airlines. Still, this is a really good fare that might make that tolerable for a mileage run or short mileage “jog” vacation. Actually, the Brussels Airlines portions are really just Air Canada codeshares, so 100% EQM for all! Thanks for correcting me, Wandering Aramean. There is a chance you would only earn 0% EQM/RDM on the North America legs depending on the fare class, but I’ve heard reports that this is booking into the L fare class, so that would mean 100%.
Fares are in the $250-300 range departing Houston, Washington, and New York. I’ve heard that they’re available out of Los Angeles but haven’t been able to confirm. I’ve already checked and been unable to find fares out of Seattle or San Francisco. Travel is February-March, or about $100 more for April-May. Still, for $250 it may be worth it to buy a positioning flight for $250-300. Sadly I already have a lot of stuff planned for February and March. 🙁
See this screenshot for an example from Kayak. The fare is $265 for IAH-BRU traveling February 15-22. This won’t last long. As is usually the case with mistake fares, buy now, think later! Hat tip to Mommy Points, who posted after reading this MilePoint post from TassoJunior.
