There’s been an amazing response to the new Meetup group I created, Frequent Flyers of the Pacific Northwest. Only 30 people came to Maggiano’s a couple weeks ago (only???), but over 125 people have signed up to learn more about the next few events we have planned. Some updates have been made lately, so I want to fill you in on the details:
Dinner and Drinks in Portland
Laura has helped organize another dinner for Portland locals who weren’t able to come up to Maggiano’s last time. This will be held at Bridgeport Brewpub on April 7, and I am coming down by train to join in the fun. If you plan on making it, please RSVP through the Meetup group so that Laura has an accurate count to share with the restaurant. So far 10 people have said they’re coming.
Happy Hour in Seattle
The first event was in Bellevue on the weekend, but diners suggested that a regular happy hour would make it easier to attend. I’ve decided to hold the first one at Sazerac, a bar attached to Hotel Monaco in downtown Seattle. The official start time is 5:30 PM on April 18, and happy hour prices run until 8 PM, but it’s an open-ended affair. Please join us and talk travel over a drink, maybe even my favorite cocktail! So far 22 people have said they’re coming.
Nomadic Matt’s Book Tour
Matt Kepnes, host of Nomadic Matt, is touring the country right now to promote his latest book, “How to Travel on $50 a Day.” I’m not organizing this event, but he did reach out to me to say he’ll be in Portland on April 1 (7:30 PM at Powell’s) and in Seattle on April 3 (7 PM at Liberty). Check out his Facebook posts on Portland and Seattle to learn more.
