I just recently got my new Inner Circle membership card from Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. Imagine my surprise when I looked closer at the card and found my status match doesn’t expire until February 16, 2015!
When I discussed my status match last month, I described how I thought I could earn 11 free nights while paying for the 15 nights I needed to requalify for 2014. I reached that number after totaling up free nights I earn through my total number of nights/stays, through unique stays at different properties, and through six free nights at recently opened hotels — one of the more creative benefits that Kimpton offers to its top-tier Inner Circle members.
I can’t say I’ve been disappointed by the perks upon arrival, either. 😉
Paying for 15 and getting 11 free is a pretty good deal, but since my status lasts through 2015 instead, it means some of the pressure is off. I know I at least want to pay for three nights. Kimpton modified its policy earlier this year to say that members who earn their status through a match from another program must pay for at least three nights in order to unlock the six free nights at new hotels (one night at each of the six new properties).
I’m sure some of you were planning from the start to just pay for three and get six free, which seems to be Angelina’s strategy. It’s too good a deal to pass up. But I try to keep my status matches going if I can. It’s not like you can just reapply for them every year. Knowing that I can enjoy some benefits at a relaxed pace in 2013 and wait until next year to worry about keeping my status has definitely relieved me of some stress. If you think like me and weren’t sure you could swing it this year, this news might encourage you to give them a try.
