LoungeBuddy has been around for a year now, offering one of the best tools to find and review airport lounges. Chatting with the team behind it, I’ve learned that they really know their airport lounges. Stuff like figuring out which obscure lounges have partnerships with only a few Star Alliance carriers and only if in a premium cabin (not with elite status). Given so many resources for airport lounges online, some of them conflicting, LoungeBuddy has become my first resource for researching future trips.
- Use the mobile app for iOS or Android to enter details of your itinerary or pick a specific airport, then scroll through all the nearby options.
- Store your airline elite status and memberships so LoungeBuddy can immediately tell you which lounges will provide you access.
- If you can’t get in for free, LoungeBuddy will also tell you if day passes are available for sale.
Although the app looks great and is easy to use, obviously the team at LoungeBuddy has more in mind that just giving away information. Today they’re announcing a number of partnerships that will let you instantly book and access passes to airport lounges within the app when traveling in the U.S. and U.K., as well as integration with Apple Pay. (In-app purchases are currently available for iOS only.) Learn more about how the process works.
To help promote this new feature, LoungeBuddy has provided me with two $100 credits to give away to readers! Anyone can enter once by providing their email address. This is only used to contact the winners and will not be saved for any other purpose. Bonus entries are also available. You can follow LoungeBuddy on Twitter, and you can share the contest with your own Twitter followers.
But everyone’s a winner even if you don’t get the grand prize. The LoungeBuddy directory remains completely free, and those who use it can enter the code travelcodex to get $10 in credit toward their first purchase. If you haven’t tried it yet, download the app today and find your next airport oasis during this coming holiday travel season!
The rollout will be small at first. Though there are many participating lounges in the United Kingdom, there are only seven airports in the U.S. where you can use LoungeBuddy to buy a day pass. But they have plans to add many more partners soon, and in the meantime it remains a great, free app just to explore your options.
