I have an Amazon Prime membership because my family buys quite a few things from Amazon every year. The free and two-day shipping is great, and of course you can buy Amazon gift cards at grocery stores or office supply stores for either 5% cash back or 5x points. Since Amazon sells nearly everything, it’s a worthwhile purchase for me and many others.
Today, in celebration of Amazon’s Original TV show “Transparent” winning a couple of Golden Globes recently, Amazon has decided to reduce the price of an Amazon Prime membership to $72 for one day only. It was the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, hence the new discounted price. Amazon Prime normally sells for $99 per year.
The cool part about Amazon Prime is that it’s actually valid for family/friends as well. My brother, sister, and I rotate years purchasing it and add the other siblings’ names to the account. We live at different addresses too! The only drawback is that the non-primary account holders do not get access to Amazon’s music and TV services – only the shipping discounts.
If I weren’t already an Amazon Prime member, I would sign up today. I find the convenience to be worth it and this discount is as good as it’s going to get, unless you buy an Amazon Fire Phone (which most people don’t recommend).
