Rocketmiles is a hotel booking site that offers a curated list of options in different cities that will earn you bonus miles on your next trip. Third-party bookings generally do not earn points or credit toward status, but for those who aren’t brand-loyal, who book infrequently, or who book travel for other people it can be a great way to earn some extra miles in your favorite airline loyalty program instead.
All of their reservations earn 1,000 to 5,000 miles per night, meaning a long stay could earn you enough to book your next vacation!
Now through May 27, Rocketmiles is running a special promotion with Alaska Airlines to win 100,000 Mileage Plan miles. These are among the most valuable frequent flyer miles in my opinion thanks to good partners (Emirates, Cathay Pacific, etc.) and flexible rules (including stopovers on one-way awards). No purchase is required to enter, and you can get a bonus entry by tweeting about the contest to your friends.
Those who do want to book a room can earn an additional 3,000 bonus Alaska miles on their first booking by December 31, 2015. Just use the code ALASKA if you book with the mobile app or use this specific URL.
If I have one caveat regarding Rocketmiles it is that sometimes they don’t have the lowest price. But many times they do, or it’s at least very close. These offers can still be worthwhile if you consider the value of the extra miles you’ll be earning. I personally value Alaska Airlines miles at close to 2 cents each, so 3,000 bonus miles on my first booking would be worth about $60.
