Registration opened today for Starwood’s new summer promotion, which runs from June 1 through August 31. Unfortunately the ironically named “Make It Count” campaign has a pretty weak offer, with a flat 1,000 bonus points for weekend stays of 2 nights or more. (Compare this to Hilton’s “Double Your HHonors” promo, which is providing an extra 10 points per dollar on every stay.) About the only good feature is that all Starwood properties are participating, so there’s no usual list of exceptions …typically every hotel I want to visit.
Qualifying stays must be 2 nights or more, and one of those nights must be a weekend night. Weekend nights are defined as Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night in most of the world, or Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night in the Middle East. See the full Terms & Conditions for a detailed overview. If you book a stay that extends beyond the offer period, you can still earn the 1,000-point bonus as long as one night falls before August 31.
Note that third-party rates booked through other websites like Orbitz or Expedia are not eligible to earn points. Book through SPG in order to participate in this promotion.
You must register before your stay, and registration closes on August 15. I recommend that you register right now in case you book an eligible stay later that you may not be planning on today. Too often people put off registering until it’s too late or they forget.
