Starwood Preferred Guest has a new fall promotion, Stay for More, that runs from October 1 through December 20, 2015. Although some terms were provided earlier, registration just opened today and will be available through December 6. (This means you could keep earning bonus points after the registration deadline. Better safe than sorry, so register now even if you don’t have immediate plans to stay at a Starwood property.)
Benefits of this promotion depend on the length of stay:
- Double base points for stays of 2 nights.
- Double base points plus a flat 500-point bonus on stays of 3 nights or more.
Double points will be nice to have at more expensive properties when someone else is covering the bill. The base earn rate is 2 points per dollar, so this means an additional 2 points per dollar on qualifying stays. Members with elite status can earn an additional 1 or 2 points per dollar, which are not doubled.
But 500 points on 3-night stays is great incentive at cheap hotels. For example, some limited service brands like Element or Four Points may cost $100 or less per night. That would only earn ~600 bonus points if getting double points on a 3-night stay. The addition of a second bonus (500 points) raises it to a total of ~1,100 points. Then add whatever other points you would normally earn.
There is an extensive list of non-participating properties, which is typical for SPG. Be sure to check it out before you start counting your rewards. On it are many popular U.S. and international hotels, but for once I see that some Seattle properties are participating! These include the Sheraton Seattle, W Seattle, and Westin Seattle (the cheaper Four Points is not participating.) Also read the complete terms and conditions.
