Hilton HHonors is encouraging its customers to sign up for Hilton HHonors and book direct with the hotel chain by providing discounts as high as 10% during a new promotion. If the test is successful, it could be rolled out long-term. This is very similar to the My Elite rates that Hyatt offered last year, although in this case no elite status is required. Anyone can sign up for Hilton HHonors in order to see these discounts when they book.
The promotion is only available in a few cities while they test its success:
- New York
- San Diego
Bigger discounts apply to those who book in advance (15+ days before arrival) and on weekends (Friday-Saturday nights). If you book within 14 days or stay midweek, discounts may still be available but will be lower.
Note that you may still find other rates that are even lower. In the example below, the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego is only $199 for advance purchase but $202 using the HHonors discount. But if you were to upgrade to a city view, the HHonors discount becomes a better deal at $212 vs. $219 for advance purchase.
You’ll also need to book through the Hilton website, mobile app, on the phone, or through preferred corporate travel providers to get these discounted rates. Make sure you provide your HHonors number or sign in first.
Don’t forget that there are other benefits of booking directly with Hilton (and many other hotel chains). These include free WiFi, the ability to earn points, and a best rate guarantee. You can learn more on Hilton’s “book direct” web page.
