Alaska Airlines 2017 MVP Gold 75K Elite Packet

by Rocky Horan
Last updated November 29, 2016

Alaska Airlines MVP Gold 75K status is Alaska Airlines top status which comes with many perks. MVP Gold 75K is quickly becoming more attractive as it offers more advantage over MVP Gold. Alaska Airlines has revised their upgrade priority and announced MVP 75ks will receive upgrades to Premium Class regardless of fare class. These changes are finally differentiating MVP Gold 75K from mid tier MVP Gold.  I re-qualified for Alaska Airlines MVP Gold 75k a few weeks ago, and recently received my MVP Gold 75K Elite packet. I am happy to report that the welcome packet and letter also features Alaska Airlines new modern branding.

Alaska Airlines MVP 75K elites receive a welcome packet upon meeting the airlines’ elite requirements. To qualify for MVP Gold 75K, frequent flyers must fly 75,000 miles on Alaska Airlines.  Flying 90,000 miles on a mixture of Alaska Airlines and their 15 global partner airlines will also qualify individuals for Elite status. Finally, for those who do not fly long distances, status is also possible by flying 90 segments.

The Alaska Airlines MVP 75K elite packet is smaller than previous year’s MVP packets. The new elite packet features a tri fold envelope which expands to reveal baggage tags and a wallet size membership card. The MVP elite packet is also doubles as a welcome letter with a quick overview of member benefits. This is a change from the 8×12″ envelope Alaska formally sent to elite flyers.

Previous year MVP 75K packets included four MVP Gold Guest upgrade certificates and four Alaska Boardroom day passes. These are still benefits of earning MVP 75K status, however they are no longer in the MVP 75K elite packet. The upgrade certificates and boardroom passes are now electronically stored in each person’s online profile. Why print paper, when it can be done electronically?! Way to go green Alaska!

Overall the Alaska Airlines MVP Gold 75K Elite packet is not very exciting. Then again, is any airlines elite packet exciting? It is nice receive recognition by the airline, and believe me, the oversize congratulations lets everyone know you have done something “great”! As the congratulations is on the outside of the mailer, even the mailman might be jealous! Regardless, the new updated and refreshed MVP elite packet with Alaska’s new branding is nice to see and it reminds me that for the next year I’ll continue to enjoy complimentary upgrades to both Premium and First class!
