Earn up to 75,000 Bonus Points with Hyatt’s Spring Promotion

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated August 24, 2018

Hyatt Gold Passport hasn’t run a major promotion in over six months, although they have had a variety of discounts and sales around holiday periods.

Thus it’s surprising that Hyatt announced a major promotion just yesterday, and it will run from April 1 through June 30, 2016. It’s my favorite type of offer from them with exponentially higher rewards as you stay more nights during the qualification period. Those who stay just 5 nights can earn 5,000 bonus points, while those who stay 25 nights can earn 75,000 bonus points.

Stay Earn Total Points Earned
5 Nights + 5,000 Points = 5,000
10 Nights + 10,000 Points = 15,000
15 Nights + 15,000 Points = 30,000
20 Nights + 20,000 Points = 50,000
25 Nights + 25,000 Points = 75,000

I’ll write a follow-up post once the registration page is available.

Grand Hyatt Bangkok
You could easily earn enough points from this promotion for one or more free nights at a Category 4 hotel such as the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok.

Qualifying nights are essentially the same ones that would normally earn you Hyatt Gold Passport points and credit toward elite status. This means you booked the room on the phone or through Hyatt.com and are paying cash or booked a Points + Cash rate. Free night awards are not eligible, nor are stays booked through third-party sites like Expedia.

Stays at some Las Vegas casinos are also eligible. Remember that Gold Passport announced a partnership with MGM’s M life casino rewards program two years ago. You can stay at any of ten participating hotel casinos on the Las Vegas strip and earn qualifying nights and points. However, you must book your room with Hyatt or MGM. Third-party bookings still aren’t eligible. (Worth noting: many Vegas discount websites promote offers that redirect you to the casino’s booking page. These are eligible.)

I happen to have 10 nights already booked for April, and it’s possible I’ll have a few more before this promotion is through. That adds up to 10 or 15 nights for either 15,000 or 30,000 bonus points. Not bad. I can usually find a good Category 4 hotel when traveling, and these are only 15,000 points per night for a free night award.

If you’ll complete 25 nights anyway, then 75,000 points is an even more generous reward. That works out to 3,000 bonus points per night, and at a value of roughly 1.4 cents per point, about $42 in rewards.
