Earn 1,000 Bonus Alaska Miles for International Travel on Airline Partners

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated June 6, 2018

Alaska Airlines is offering an easy path to earning 1,000 bonus miles. Just register your Mileage Plan account and then travel with most of its partners (including American Airlines but not Delta Air Lines!) on an international flight between June 1 and September 15, 2016. You can actually earn the bonus miles multiple times, once with each partner.

To earn the bonus you’ll need to credit the miles for that flight to Alaska Airlines and not to another loyalty program, else how would they know you’ve met the qualification requirements? I consider Alaska miles among the more valuable loyalty currencies out there, so this isn’t such a bad deal. However, it would complicate matters if you’re attempting to earn elite status with another program like American AAdvantage or Delta SkyMiles. An international flight can represent a lot of miles.

Note: You can find a list of all bonus offers on the Alaska Airlines website. Interestingly, this is the first time I’ve seen Alaska ask how you learned about the offer when you register, so they may also be testing the value of their various outreach channels. Don’t forget to tell them about Travel Codex! 😉

Terms & Conditions

Limited time offer: Eligible Mileage Plan members who register for this promotion before their first qualifying flight will receive 1,000 bonus miles for each unique qualifying Mileage Plan partner airline flown from June 1, 2016, through September 15, 2016, to an international destination. Qualifying Mileage Plan partner airlines include Aeromexico, Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Fiji Airways, Hainan Airlines, Icelandair, KLM, Korean Air, LAN, and Qantas. Mileage for qualifying flights must be credited to the member’s Mileage Plan account. International destinations include any flights with at least one non-US based destination. Flights must be flown in a class of service and within the eligible flight number range that are eligible for mileage accrual, per the partner airline’s rules. Not valid on free or award travel. Bonus miles do not count towards Mileage Plan elite status. Bonus miles will be awarded within four to six weeks of qualifying activity posting to a member’s account. All terms and conditions of the Mileage Plan program apply. Offer subject to change without notice.
