Boeing Celebrates 100 Years with New Custom Livery for Alaska Airlines

If you live in Seattle, take a look out your window this morning for a chance to glimpse Alaska Airlines’ newest custom livery, which celebrates Boeing’s 100th birthday. Sometime between 9:50 and 10:30 AM there will be a downtown flyby of the new aircraft along with dozens of local dignitaries on board, including:

  • Jay Inslee, Washington State governor
  • Dow Constantine, King County Executive
  • Ray Conner, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes
  • Brad Tilden, CEO of Alaska Airlines
  • Russell Wilson, Alaska Airlines Chief Football Officer

If you work downtown you may be one of the first to get a good look. I don’t have a photo of it yet, but I’ll be at the welcome ceremony and will update the post later today with more information. Meanwhile, follow along on social media using the #Boeing100 hashtag.

Update: While I was at the event, taking pictures among a crowd of 700 people is tough, so I’ve included photos here provided by the Alaska Airlines media team.

During the event, hundreds of local business leaders stood in formation to mark out “100” for a photo-op, followed shortly by the arrival of the new custom plane with local politicians, business leaders, and children on board.

In addition to the unveiling, Alaska Airlines announced a donation of $100,000 in Boeing’s name to the Washington Opportunity Scholarship Fund. Boeing promptly matched the donation, raising a total of $200,000. Throughout the event there were talks about the importance of both companies to the local economy, their special relationship to each other, and the importance of improving education and job creation in the state of Washington.

More information about the event was later shared on the Alaska Airlines blog by CEO Brad Tilden. You can also find a full list of all the custom liveries on Alaska Airlines’ website:
