Upgraded to a Parlor Suite at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare

Despite the fact that I live less than 100 miles from O’Hare, I do occasionally stay in hotels near there, in the case of a very early flight or irregular operations.

Hyatt Regency O’Hare Parlor Suite

I’ve had a few stays at the rather unique looking Hyatt Regency O’Hare recently.  In both cases I was upgraded to a Parlor Suite, which is located in the Executive building.  The hotel is a large convention center, that can lead to impersonal service, but my experiences at this property have been good.  There is another Hyatt just down the road.  This is not as large as the Hyatt Regency, but is newer and a little more modern.  There is no Regency club at the Hyatt Rosemont

Most recently, I had a stay at the Hyatt Regency in early 2012 and wanted to use up an expiring Diamond Suite upgrade.  A more recent stay came after being stranded due to flight delays, I was given a free upgrade at my early morning check in.

The executive wing is a separate tower from the main hotel building.

The whole hotel has been renovated.  Public areas appear to be mostly completed, but the construction projects were continuing during my visits.  Like many older Hyatts, the new furnishings do a decent job to cover up the older parts.  At this property, the rooms were impeccably clean.   Even the remote control was sanitized:

Parlor suites are the typical Diamond upgrade, and are a nice large room.  Walls dividing the bedroom don’t go to the ceiling.

Design of some of the room elements are pretty modern.

The Dyson fan is a nice touch.  They also provide Diamond marked RFID room keys.

Hyatt Regency Chicago Regency Club

The Regency Club is a nice space, although its a bit of a hike from the Executive wing, located behind the reception desk.  The fitness center is near this area as well, just off the main lobby.  The gym is well appointed, although it seemed a little small for how many rooms are in the hotel.

The Hyatt Regency O’Hare is a classic hotel a few minutes from O’Hare airport.  Its probably not the best hotel near the airport, but is a convenient options for those who want to earn Hyatt points.  Rates are pretty decent even midweek, so I think this is a good place to pick up some stay credits if you don’t have time to go into the city.
