Delta’s Elite Members Get Additional Benefits on Virgin Australia

I’ve spent a lot of time discussing Virgin Australia on this site, particularly since I live far from their home base.  I had a great trip to Australia last year, and got some excellent value out of some Delta SkyMiles for the trip.  I wish I had more opportunities to go to and around Australia, but unfortunately I do not.  Hopefully some readers who also hold some Delta status do, since the partnership between Delta and Virgin Australia continues to expand. I received the following information via email:

Take off with Virgin Australia and enjoy Medallion perks along the way.

We’re committed to providing you with an exceptional experience – whether traveling with us or our partners.

That’s why, beginning on September 12th, Medallion members may now enjoy the following Medallion benefits when flying with Virgin Australia

Benefit Diamond

To take advantage of these benefits:
Medallion members will need to present their membership card when checking in for a Virgin Australia flight. Stay tuned for updates as we work to automate this process.

Don’t forget, you can also continue to earn and redeem miles when flying with Virgin Australia. Just be sure to add your SkyMiles number when booking a flight.

So, enjoy all the perks of your membership – whether you’re traveling with us or one of our many airline partners.

On my trip last year, I was able to access the Virgin Lounges due to my Delta status, but access to these priority services is a nice plus as well.  I’m amazed that even Silver Medallion (my current Delta status) receives some benefits, albeit only for the long haul flights.

Delta miles for Virgin Australia

It appears that it is still possible to get Virgin Australia Business Class seats for flights between LAX and Australia and New Zealand, although that isn’t as easy as it was in the past.  Even with fuel surcharges, I feel that 150,00 Delta SkyMiles for Business Class on Virgin Australia still makes this one of the best value redemptions using Delta SkyMiles.
