Hyatt Cardmembers Get 10% Rebate on Redeemed Points This Summer

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated August 3, 2019

Planning a summer getaway? Now through September 2, 2019, you can get 10% of your points returned for hotel award nights, upgrades, dining, and FIND experiences. This offer is valid to both Hyatt and World of Hyatt credit card account holders. (The “World of Hyatt” credit card is the new version, while the older Hyatt credit card is grandfathered in for existing cardmembers.)

Hyatt has run promos like this before. It’s a great incentive to not just use the program but also keep a Hyatt credit card in your wallet. For example, I have the original Hyatt credit card because the annual free award night is worth more to me than the card’s annual fee, so the card is a net positive. But I also transfer additional points to my World of Hyatt account from Chase’s Ultimate Rewards program. Because I have the card, I can get 10% of my points returned to me no matter where they originally came from.

To be eligible for the rebate, your stay must occur between June 14 and September 2, 2019. The entire stay–including checkout–must be complete by September 2. Existing reservations booked before June 14 are still eligible as long as you register for the promotion before your stay.

The math is simple, but here’s an example of how the rewards work:

Registration must take place between June 14 and July 15. That means you should make sure to register now, even if you aren’t yet sure whether you’ll be taking advantage of this promotion until later in the summer. Those who wait until August to settle their plans may find out it’s too late. Always register ASAP!

World of Hyatt has added a number of new brands to its loyalty program in recent months, including Thompson Hotels, Joie de Vivre, and Miraval. We actually have a new Miraval here in Austin, but it’s adults only. Not a good fit for new parents! We’ll probably consider the Thompson in Seattle when we take baby Alex on his first trip later this year.
