Alila Hotels Join World of Hyatt, Plus Learn How to Score a Free Night!

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated June 25, 2019

Alila Hotels, formerly part of Two Roads Hospitality, is joining World of Hyatt. This follows in the wake of recent additions from Thompson Hotels and Joie de Vivre. Overall more than 40 boutique hotels have been added to Hyatt’s portfolio this year.

The Alila Hotels collection includes 16 properties in China, India, and Southeast Asia, including a number on the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali. These will be integrated over the next few weeks by July 16. I still need to write up my reviews of the two Four Seasons properties in Bali (I know… so late it’s embarrassing), but I’m always glad to have a reason to go back and check out another!

Hyatt is also promoting its new FIND experiences, which are meant to promote wellbeing in three areas: Feel, Fuel, and Function. Health and wellness has become a big part of the World of Hyatt brand identity in recent years, including through acquisitions like Miraval Resorts and Exhale Spa. Some experiences at the new Alila resorts include:

  • Balinese Beauty Ritual at Alila Seminyak, Seminyak, Indonesia (Feel)
  • Journey to Gastronomy at Alila Villas Uluwatu, Uluwatu, Indonesia (Fuel)
  • Payangan “Private Bali” Trekking to explore rice terraces and riverside views at Alila Ubud, Gianyar, Indonesia (Function)
  • Snorkeling the Blue Lagoon in Bali at Alila Manggis, Karangasem, Indonesia (Function)

Here’s the list of Alila Hotels joining World of Hyatt. Read on for information about how to earn up to 8,000 bonus points and a free night.

Destination Hotels is another Two Roads Hospitality brand that will join World of Hyatt later this year. I’ve stayed at a number of their properties already, including the Resort at Squaw Creek (which is convenient to one of my favorite ski resorts, if not exactly cozy) and the Motif Seattle (which, be aware, has an excellent roof bar popular for after parties).

Now through December 31, 2019, you can earn an extra 2,000 bonus points for your first stay at a qualifying hotel in each of the new brands (Alila, Thompson, Joie de Vivre, and Destination Hotels) for a maximum of 8,000 points. Stay at all four brands and you can earn a free night at a Category 1-4 hotel.

In any case, we’ve been seeing a lot of new opportunities to earn and redeem Hyatt points this year. I think the Hyatt brand is really providing a compelling case to position itself as a competitor in the luxury space, especially as Marriott seems to have bungled the integration with some of the nicer Starwood brands.
