TWA Hotel at JFK Opens an Ice Rink on November 30th

by Steve Case
Last updated November 19, 2019

Grab your ice skates and skate around a historic TWA Lockheed Constellation at the TWA Hotel.  Usually, a report of ice on the tarmac would be bad news.  Just in time for Christmas, the TWA Hotel brings the RUNWAY RINK to JFK airport.

Beginning on November 30th, you can take some laps around a historic airliner and enjoy a drink at the “Connie Lounge”.  The custom-made ice rink will measure 56-by-44 feet and feature skating shows inspired by the TWA Constellation history.  The Runway Rink will be featuring frosty beers, Sno-Caps candy and other snacks and beverages.  Just for good measure, you can watch a Zamboni ice grooming machine smooth out the ice.

The hotel will have custom TWA knit hats and scarves for sale featuring the iconic TWA logo.  These are available online or at the TWA Store located in the hotel.

If you are really adventurous, you can take a swim in the heated, edgeless pool and observation deck on top of the hotel.  This pool is heated up to 100 degrees and is open for guests year-round, weather permitting.

About Steve Case

Steve is a life-long avgeek and a points and miles player. The photo is from my first premium, international award flight in 2012. That is all it took, I was hooked. I used my airline mile and hotel points to travel well and cheap. I am truly an "out-of-the-box" traveler which has enriched my travel experiences.
