Day Rooms Now Available at Four Points by Sheraton LAX

by Rocky Horan
Last updated April 28, 2019

Long layovers and travel delays after a series of flights can either be a lot of fun or horrible, depending on where you are and what you have planned. If planned correctly, an eight-hour layover can become a perfect opportunity to explore a city. Some cities are clearly made for exploring while others are not. In LA, the airport is fairly close to Hollywood, Santa Monica, Downtown, the beach etc. There’s no reason why anyone would need to sit around LAX for an extended period of time when there is so much so close.

Despite being close to everything, sometimes after a long flight, the idea of checking out the city is daunting and all one really wants to do is sit back, relax, sleep, and zone out. To help make this possible, the FourPoint by Sheraton at LAX is now offering Day rooms!

Located just minutes from LAX with free shuttle service to and from the airport running every 20 minutes, the new day room offer at Four Points by Sheraton LAX allows weary travelers to put down their suitcases and rest their head in a recently renovated guest room complete with free WiFi and 24-hour room service. Day room guests receive full access to the hotel’s facilities including a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool that is completed with a bar solely dedicated to local breweries or one can grab a bite to eat at Comfort restaurant featuring California coastal cuisine or Brewster’s – a Beererie offering a menu of over 100 local, regional and imported beers including many micro and craft brews.

This week, I was able to stop by the Four Points hotel and, honestly, I was fairly impressed with the property. Although $89 is a bit steep in my book for a room that I only can access from 8am to 5pm, it beats the average price of $119 a night and it sure beats airport chairs. After all, how long can you sit in the SkyClub before going stir crazy? I don’t want to find out! And with day passes at $50 to airline lounges, for an extra $39, you can have access to a bed!

The rooms at the Four Points are fairly simple, but adequate no matter how long your stay, either overnight or just for the day. I was shown both a king room and a room with two doubles. Each room was completed with a fridge, coffee maker, and a TV. The bathrooms were small, but adequate. Thanks to the rooms black out curtains, even sleeping during the day will not be a problem for weary travelers and the sound proofing at the hotel is top notch even the airplanes overhead can barely be heard. While sitting in the room I watched a number of airplanes land including an Air France A380, a Virgin America A320, a United 757 and an Alaska 737. All of which rumbles nearby barely resonated through the room.

In addition to checking out the rooms, I had the opportunity to have lunch at Brewsters, the hotel’s Beerier. My friend and I took advantage of their highly praised Carne Asada Fries and Fish Tacos. Both meals were absolutely delicious and our pallets were more than satisfied. The restaurant, known for their 100+ beers had to many to choose from (a good thing), but a very limited number on draft. Being a beer snob at times, and loving microbrews, we both opted for beers on tap. I opted for a Local IPA while my friend slurped down a Pumpkin Beer. Both noteworthy!

Throughout my short stay at the Fourpoints at LAX the staff were all overly friendly and present everywhere you looked. The restaurant manager was busy working in the restaurant alongside his staff and the Sales and Marketing managers also held their presence. Everyone friendly and helpful, but more importantly personable.

If you’re flying through LAX and you have a long layover and want to get out of the airport, this property is an excellent place to rest for a few hours  and would definitely be worth the stay. SPG members do receive ALL benefits that they would normally receive on an overnight stay and do receive SPG points and stay credits for use of the dayroom.
