Hilton Extends Elite Status Through March 2023

by Rocky Horan
Last updated September 15, 2021

Personal travel is up in 2021 and hotels are slowly starting to fill back up on weekends and around holidays. Yet, globally, business travel is not back to 2019 levels and hotels are recognizing that they are at risk of losing high value business customers who have not return to the road. Without these road warriors, many hotels remain mostly empty throughout the week and many still remain closed. To address the overall lack of travel, Hilton is extending Hilton Honors status for a second time

As of today, Hilton has announced the following for all Hilton Honors members around the globe:

  • All elite status will be extended through March 2023.
  • All 2021 nights will rollover to next year.
  • No Points will expire until the end of 2022.
  • Elite status tier requirements lower than 2019 tier qualifications.

In addition to extending points expiration and status, Hilton is making it easier to earn Hilton Honors status. Status qualification is reduced by 50% across all levels.

  • Silver: 5 nights, 2 stays or 12,500 Base Points
  • Gold: 20 nights, 10 stays or 37,500 Base Points
  • Diamond: 30 nights, 15 stays or 60,000 Base Points

In previous years, top Diamond status would require 60 nights or 120,000 base points. The reduction makes it much easier to retain status or earn status if you are new to traveling. Remember that base points can be earned through credit card spending as well. Making status even easier to earn with the American Express Hilton credit cards.
