by Steve Case
Last updated February 6, 2023

Fall is in the air and so are improvements a various Alaska Lounges.  This post will be a brief snapshot of the changes coming to the Alaska Lounges over the coming months.

Alaska Lounge Locations

Alaska Airlines operates eight lounges in its flight network.  One is located at JFK airport in New York and the remaining seven lounges are located along the west coast consisting of:

  • Anchorage near gate C-1
  • Seattle north concourse between gates N-13 and N-18
  • Seattle D concourse near gate D-1
  • Seattle C concourse near gate C-16
  • Portland main near gate C-5
  • Portland express lounge near gate B-5 (satellite lounge)
  • San Francisco after the D security checkpoint at
  • Los Angeles near gate 64.
  • New York JFK above security checkpoint, Terminal 7 mezzanine level.

Alaska Lounges have a base membership and a “plus” membership with access to American Airlines Admiral Club lounges.

Food And Beverage Service

Each lounge offers complimentary food and beverages with a barista and bartender.  Alaska Airlines locally sources food and wine focusing on choices from the Pacific Northwest.

Alaska Lounge Pricing

The Alaska Lounge has a two-tier annual membership for:

  • Alaska Lounge membership for the eight Alaska Lounges and
  • Alaska Lounge Plus membership that includes the Alaska Lounges and access to American Airlines Admirals Clubs.

Day passes are available for $30.00 each and are good for a 24-hour period.  Purchase a day pass with your Alaska Airlines Visa credit card and your price will be $30.00.

Portland Changes

The Alaska Lounge located near gate C-5 has built an annex to increase sitting capacity which is already open.  To be more convenient for passengers flying from the B gates, an express lounge is now open near gate B-4.  The Express lounge opened three weeks ago and currently is only offering beverage service.  The express lounge plans on serving food as soon as the catering logistics are finalized.

Seattle Concourse C Changes

This month, renovations will be underway to increase seating by an additional 60 seats. The lounge will remain open during construction. The renovation is planned to be completed before the Christmas holidays.

Seattle Concourse D Changes

This lounge located near gate D-1 is long overdue for a facelift.  The improvements will include:

  • Expanded seating
  • A barista station like the other Alaska Lounges
  • New offerings and an improved layout.

Since this will be a large-scale renovation, the D lounge will be closed during construction such as the one on this case study. The closure will begin in early 2023 and be completed in summer 2023.

Los Angeles Changes

This lounge is getting refreshed with new furniture and carpeting.

San Francisco Lounge

This one surprised me at the lounge that just opened a year ago.  Like Los Angeles, this lounge is scheduled to get new furniture and carpeting.

The new Alaska SFO Lounge, conveniently located in Terminal 2 just past security, offers more than 9,000 square feet of relaxing space where guests can enjoy classic bites like San Francisco sourdough bread and a pint of the city’s famed Anchor Brewing Crisp Pilsner while taking in art inspired by the Bay Area.

Final Thoughts

The Alaska Lounges do offer a good product at a good price.  Alaska Airlines does have to deal with customer growth and keeping the lounges current.  The Seattle lounge in concourse D is in need of a facelift and is good that Alaska will do a complete renovation of that lounge.  The additional seating at the Seattle concourse C lounge will help with the overcrowding issues.
