$40 Voucher for Transiting in Singapore by June 2013

by Rocky Horan
Last updated March 22, 2019

Singapore Airlines and their regional subsidy, Silk Air, are trying hard to compete with their South East Asia competitors and discount carriers and are now offering passengers connecting in Singapore a free $40 voucher to be spent at almost any shop within Changi International Airport. The Changi Transit program was first launched on October 1, 2012 and has offered travelers a $20 voucher since the program’s inception, however now through June 30, 2013, Singapore airlines is doubling this amount per ticket! In my opinion, a $20 voucher was already a #DoubleWideDelight, yet amplifying this offer makes this even more juicy!

To be eligible for the $40 voucher, the passenger must be traveling on Silk Air or Singapore Air and their ticket numbers must start with either 618 or 629. Now where can I find an answer to how close your connections must be, my guess is, if you have both your tickets printed or even your itinerary, you’ll be able to get the $40 voucher. Although if you’re flying SFO-SIN-SFO, don’t be surprised if you get denied your transit voucher; either way, I say it’s worth a try. Hold on to your boarding pass and on your return flight, go to the ticket counter with both your tickets and see if they will provide you with a voucher. After all, the worst thing that can happen is they say no!

To get your voucher, visit any of the information counters located throughout the airport and present them both your tickets (Inbound/Outbound).

The CDVs are valid for one-time use at more than 450 retail, food and service outlets in the transit and public areas of Terminals 1, 2 and 3, excluding outlets in the Arrival Baggage Claim Halls. They can also be redeemed for one-time access to the Ambassador Transit Lounge at Terminals 2 and 3 for up to six hours. Services at the lounge include showers, light refreshments, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, and a wide range of reading materials. Travelers can also look forward to amenities such as airport-wide complimentary WiFi, movie theatres and themed gardens while transiting at Changi Airport, where a convenient Skytrain transport system in both the transit and public areas provides easy access to all three terminals.

In addition, do not forget that when flying through Singapore, your Singapore Airlines/Silk Air provides you with a slew of discounts and promotions throughout Singapore. Check out Singapore Air’s Boarding Pass Privilege site which provides a rundown of restaurants, hotels, tourists attractions (including the Singapore Flyer and renowned night zoo), and more. Or if you have an extended airport and you want to spend time outside of the airport, consider a FREE Singapore tour! All of Changi’s activities from a free blockbuster cinema to a giant game room (both free & definitely a #DoubleWideDelight) or Four-story indoor slide can be found on the Transit page. There is so much to do for free at Changi, one could spend days in the airport and not get bored…..I mean heck I once spent 14 hours there and was quite comfortable!
