Regent Seven Seas Cruises Dress Code Update

by Rocky Horan
Last updated July 30, 2025

If you’re planning a journey aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises, you’re in for an ultra-luxury experience where every detail is curated for comfort, elegance, and ease. One of the most common questions travelers ask before embarking is: What should I wear? Here’s a comprehensive guide to Regent’s dress code, including a new update that reflects the evolving style of modern luxury travelers. Which I am VERY happy to see be rolled out in August 2025.

Daytime Dress Code: Relaxed and Refined

During the day, whether you’re lounging onboard or exploring ashore, the dress code is resort-style casual. There is no changes to this. Think of it as elevated leisurewear or something you might wear at a luxury all-inclusive resort.
  • Acceptable Attire: Shorts, jeans, t-shirts, polos, sundresses, casual tops
  • Footwear: Sandals, sneakers, flip-flops
  • Restrictions: Swimwear is only permitted in pool and spa areas—not in restaurants or lounges
This approach allows guests to stay comfortable while still maintaining a polished appearance throughout the ship. This is also inline with most cruise companies. Some people are

Evening Dress Code: Elegant Casual

After 6:00 PM, Regent transitions to an Elegant Casual dress code in most public areas and use to ban jeans. Some guests report having been asked to changed. Yet finally RSSC is getting with the times. Starting with voyages departing in August 2025, Regent Seven Seas is updating its evening dress code to better reflect the evolving tastes of today’s luxury travelers. It turns out you don’t have to wear khakis or chinos and can still be rich 😜
Guests will now be welcome to wear refined denim and dress sneakers in all public areas after 6:00 PM.
  • Refined Denim: Stylish, well-fitted jeans with no rips, tears, or distressing
  • Dress Sneakers: Clean, well-maintained sneakers in neutral or classic colors

The former dress code and recommendations was much more strict (see below)

The Ultimate Guide to Saving Big on Summer Travel

  • For Women: Dresses, skirts, dress slacks  blouses, sweaters, pantsuits
  • For Men: Slacks or chinos (no jeans), collared shirts (polo or dress shirts), optional sport jackets
  • Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are recommended
This new standard applies to all restaurants, bars, and lounges, with the exception of the Pool Grill and Pool Bar, where casual attire is always welcome. The change also matches the dress code on Explora and the changes by Seabourn. Seabourn changed their dress code in 2023. Regent cruises has been holding out.

Formal Optional Nights

On voyages of 16 nights or longer, Regent offers two Formal Optional evenings where on shorter voyages there is just one. These are perfect opportunities to dress to the nines and show off your best looks.

  • Women: Cocktail dresses or evening gowns
  • Men: Tuxedos, dinner jackets, or dark suits with ties
Participation is entirely optional. That’s right you DON’T have to dress up to eat out. Elegant Casual remains acceptable even on these nights. So both people win. The old guard that likes to dress up and will give you side eye for wearing jeans and the younger generation who don’t even own a tie!

Final Thoughts

RSSC offers luxurious all inclusive trips on smaller ships with less than 800 guests. The new Regent’s dress code strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. With the new updates, guests have even more flexibility to express their personal style while enjoying the refined atmosphere of life at sea.
