Braniff II Timetable from 1988

by Mike
Last updated April 20, 2019

Braniff Inc (also known as Braniff II) is the reincarnation of the failed Braniff airlines had hubs in Kansas City, Miami and DFW. With a single class of service and all leather seating. They were focused on unrestricted low cost fares for every flight.

This timetable is effective July 1, 1988, just a year before bankruptcy and finally suspending airline operations in November 1989. The route map is interesting as you don’t often see a Kansas City hub on any other maps.

Looking at a typical flight listing from New York (Laguardia) to Las Vegas shows:

4:05pL 7:41p 521/541 Daily MCI S

braniff-ewr-las

Which reads: depart at 4:05pm and arrive at 7:41pm. Flying flight 521 from LGA to MCI then flight 541 from MCI to LAS. Snack.

Braniff, in all it’s incarnations, was a well regarded airline with great customer service. However deregulation forever changed the airline no matter what changes they made.

About Mike

On my first flights on Allegheny and Piedmont so many years ago, I immediately got the flying bug. After years of traveling I started the blogs and podcasts at UPGRD.com. And, like many of you, I've done a lot of flying for miles and status. I once flew from New York City to Honolulu and back again just for elite status (and a quick Mai Tai).
