American Airlines has announced their Elite Rewards for 2013, giving extra gifts to everyone who flies a certain amount of points, miles, or segments in 2013. Straying from the 2012 requirements, this year frequent fliers will be rewarded for flying based on all three status tiers instead of the harder to earn elite qualifying points, which was the only way to earn elite awards in 2012. This change means Elite Awards are easier to earn, because Elite Awards match status levels. Therefore, whether you fly more miles, earn more points, or fly more segments, American Air wants to reward you! The only difference this year is if you select bonus miles, each category is slightly less rewarding than last year, offering 5K less bonus miles per tier.
AAdvantage members earn 1 prize per each category reached. Meaning someone who flies 150K Elite qualifying miles a year or earn 160 Elite qualify points or fly 160 segments are able to choose 4 prizes total, 1 from each category! This could mean 6 extra system wide upgrades could be rewarded on top of the system wide upgrades already earned as an executive platinum! These extra rewards are by far some of the best in the industry and beat the measly choice benefits that Delta offer their Elites.
Registration for these rewards are now open and the rewards follow the elite program year. To participate in Elite Rewards, you must register prior to December 31, 2013, and choose your reward by February 28, 2014. Use registration code ELTA3 to register. If you’ve already qualified for a milestone, look for your first notification email by the end of May. So watch your inboxes, your Elite Awards are on their way!
