Better Perks for Elite Members at Hyatt Place

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated March 27, 2019

I spent a lot of summers at roadside motels growing up, and sometimes basic works best. Hyatt Place has been one of my favorite hotel brands since it was first announced. That’s not to say I wouldn’t prefer a Park Hyatt, but when you just need a comfortable place to stay for the night, I’ve been pretty happy with the quality and consistency of the Hyatt Place brand. Even my wife asks to stay there thanks to the comfy sofas.

Unfortunately, there weren’t a lot of ways to recognize Hyatt’s elite members at Hyatt Place properties, since nearly all rooms are identical (no suites) and breakfast is included.

World of Hyatt is now offering more flexibility on check-in and check-out times at Hyatt Place for all members, which I think does a good job of recognizing the chain’s niche for basic but quality accommodations. Going back to my road trip example, that target audience may not always have a traditional schedule. Even urban customers might appreciate some flexibility if they’re flying in for a day of meetings. Hyatt says they piloted this change at 14 different properties in 2018 before rolling it out more broadly.

Late Checkout:

  • World of Hyatt Globalist members still receive 4 PM late checkout, and Explorist and Discoverist members still receive 2 PM late checkout. These perks are part of the existing World of Hyatt benefits.
  • Non-elite members can reserve a 2 PM late checkout for a fee that starts at $10, varying with location.

Early check-in:

  • Early check-in is a new benefit for World of Hyatt, and Globalist and Explorist members can reserve a 9 AM or 12 PM early check-in time for free as long as they contact the hotel in advance.
  • Discoverist and non-elite members can reserve a 9 AM or 12 PM early check-in for a fee starting at $10, varying with location.

The option to secure a late checkout or early check-in will be provided within seven days of arrival. You can either look up your reservation online or in the World of Hyatt mobile app. These options for early check-in or late checkout are not guaranteed to be available, but hopefully an advance arrangement will make it easier to secure.

Understanding the ability for members to confirm an early check-in or late checkout prior to arrival provides more confidence and control when it comes to booking their stay. World of Hyatt members can reserve early check-in or late checkout at participating Hyatt Place hotels when booking on Hyatt.com within seven days of arrival, or by a few simple clicks within the World of Hyatt mobile app within seven days of arrival, or via the pre-arrival email received a couple days before their stay, all subject to availability.

Hyatt Place early check-in and late checkout member experience is another key step in Hyatt’s commitment to listening to guest and member feedback and caring for their needs. Whether traveling for business or leisure, allowing members more convenience and less stress to come and go at times that work for their schedule helps make the most of their travel journey. More info and program terms are available on Hyatt’s website.
