Virgin America Elevate frequent flyer program is the frequent flyer program that rewards you for spending more. The more money you spend, the more points you earn. Unlike traditional frequent flyer programs, Elevate is a revenue based program. However, this only holds true with flying Virgin America. If you instead fly their partners, like Emirates, you earn a percentage of the miles flown. Each airline has their own earning chart, so be sure to check out the Virgin American Elevate page for more details.
This month, Virgin America is offering double points on Emirates flights. Typical earning rates are as follow:
|CLASS OF SERVICE||BOOKING CLASS||ACCRUAL|
(POINTS % OF MILES)
|Economy Class Skywards Saver fare||B, G, H, K, L, M, Q, T, U, V, X||20%|
|Economy Class Skywards Flex fare||E, R, W, Y||40%|
|Business Class||C, I, J, P, O||60%|
|First Class||A, F||80%|
For example, typically if you fly on Emirates from San Francisco (SFO) to Dubai (DXB) round trip in Economy Class on a Skywards Flex fare, you would earn 6,483 Elevate points. This is figured out by taking the milage: Base Miles (Round trip, SFO – DXB) – 16,206 and multiplying it by 40%
(Economy Class Skywards Flex fare – 40% of Miles flown) for a total of 6,483 Elevate points. Yet, now because of this bonus offer, you can earn double the points when flying Emirates and credit the flight to Virgin America Elevate. Furthermore, Silver members earn double points +25% and Gold members earn double points + 100%!
To be elegible for this bonus, you must register and fly between Feb. 15 & May 15, 2014. Remember that each elevate point is worth ~2.3 cents towards a ticket on Virgin America and only 20,000 points will get you a round trip ticket to Hawaii on Hawaiian Air!
Here are examples of how many bonus points you can earn during this promotion:
