Free M life Status and More with MGM Resorts Connections

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated December 3, 2017

I’ve written before about the M life loyalty program at MGM Resorts in Las Vegas. What I think helps it stand out against other casino loyalty programs are the many ways in which you can acquire elite status, leading to shorter taxi queues, better tables, event line passes, and more. Given the huge numbers of people you can find in Las Vegas when it’s busy, these benefits have really made my experience better.

MGM Resorts Connections

A new program called MGM Resorts Connections offers similar benefits as well as help arranging plans when you travel with a group. They can provide extra assistance with access to speciality suites, cabana reservations, dinner plans, and passes to night clubs. For example, each room booked at MGM Grand gets two complimentary wristbands to Hakkasan and WET REPUBLIC. And in recognition that everyone goes to Vegas for different reasons, they tailor their services to bachelor and bachelorette parties, weddings, family vacations, golf trips — you name it. (Although given all the extra information on bachelor parties, that does seem to be the focus. I think it would have been helpful when we were planning my own.)

You might think you can still do it all on your own, but one perk of working with an MGM contact is that the event planner gets free M life Gold status. So even if you were able to make special arrangements in advance through the Connections team, you can still rely on that card to help with everything else. The only requirement is that you plan and book your arrangements, including at least five hotel rooms, through MGM Resorts Connections.

In addition, as the group leader, you’ll qualify for a membership in M life at the Gold tier. That means pre-sale access to concert and fight tickets. Room discounts and special offers. Priority reservations in fine restaurants, buffet line passes, special nightclub access, upgraded seating at arena events and a whole lot more – along with the power to earn additional rewards for virtually every dollar you spend at all MGM Resorts destinations.

Thanks to Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond status, I’ve been able to get a free match to M life Platinum, and Gold Passport Platinum members are entitled to M life Gold. So you may not need to use the free status benefit of this program if you’re a Hyatt elite. But if you don’t have Hyatt status — or even if you do — then I hope you find the other benefits of this concierge service compelling.
