Get to Hawaii for Less: Amazing Deals from Korean Air

by Eric
Last updated September 22, 2017

While I was writing these articles, my goal was to include ALL of the meaningful ways to get to Hawaii and ignore the programs that aren’t easy to accrue to. Y’know, the ones that only transfer in from SPG and don’t have a co-branded card. So I was about to discount Korean Airlines as one to be ignored, since their program is a bit nichy and somewhat difficult to redeem on.

AND THEN I LOOKED AT THE AWARD CHART!

It turns out, Korean considers Hawaii a part of North America — something that’s covered in the Award Maps article I wrote a few months ago.

Wow, 25,000 miles roundtrip on Delta, anywhere in North America! 45,000 in lie-flat business class from the East Coast even – that’s a bargain!

And you’ll see here that Hawaii (and Puerto Rico) are part of North America. Anyone else think it’s odd that Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana are in Central America?

Sure enough, round trip to Hawaii (and you can only redeem roundtrip) is 25,000 miles in economy and 45,000 in front from anywhere in North America flying on Delta. That’s pretty killer. Probably the best deal out there. And they have a few credit cards (small bonus) and are a Chase transfer partner (a bigger deal).

So far, this is the best deal we’ve seen. I’ll finish up with a review of strategies for our East Coast friends, plus a handy calculator to help you see all the options in one place.
