Pharmacopia Replacing Kenet MD in Hyatt Regency Hotels

by Brad
Last updated March 12, 2019

As often as I find myself in hotels, I have strong opinions on the toiletries that are provided. I usually bring my own, just in case. I’ve written a lot about some hotel toiletries I like (Sheraton’s new products), and others I’m not a fan of (Portico White Ginger). Now Hyatt hotels in the US seem to have new products, from Pharmacopia.

With Marriott continuing to struggle with IT and other aspects of their merger with Starwood, and being off the hamster wheel thanks to my Lifetime Platinum Elite status I’ve mostly booked elsewhere. That means I have been staying with Hyatt when possible. Since Hyatt thankfully moved away from Portico a few years ago, they have offered KenetMD products. It seems that might be changing.  Several recent stays have had Pharmacopia Argan Oil products and not KenetMD. I’ve seen the Pharmacopia Citrus products in some Hyatt hotels internationally, but this Argan Oil was new to me.

So, how are they?

I didn’t really have strong feelings about Kenet MD products, although some of my readers very much did. I had so many comments on my posts about their products, so clearly they have some fans. I found Kenet MD rather mild. The aroma is not strong, but very inoffensive. The Pharmacopia products I’ve used are maybe slightly more strong-smelling, but it is not too strong. The soaps and shampoos lather up well, but are otherwise unremarkable. The soaps are similar to previous products, with the body bar being rectangular with ‘dots’ on the bottom surface, and the facial soap a smaller, round bar.

Is it an improvement from Kenet MD? Honestly, I don’t think this is that significant of a change. One decent product replaced by another. Maybe I need to use the new Pharmacopia products more to develop more of an opinion.

Have you tried these Pharmacopia Argan Oil products during your Hyatt stays? What’s your take?
