São Paulo isn’t short on luxury hotels, but the JW Marriott São Paulo stands out as a polished sanctuary in one of the busiest cities in South America. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite, I had high expectations and this property delivered in almost every way. Plus even if you are not an elite guest, you can enjoy elite like perks as this hotel is a part of Marriott Luminous. More on Marriott Stars and Luminous later
Location & First Impressions
The hotel sits along the Pinheiros River, offering sweeping views of the iconic Estaiada Bridge. It’s close enough to the city’s financial district for business travelers, yet far enough to feel like an escape. The design inside the hotel is striking: black marble, rich wood accents, and bold Brazilian art create a space that feels modern and warm at the same time.
The hotel is also located near mass transit making it easy to explore the large metro area. Line 9, station Morumbi-Claro is the closet station. Plus the new Line 17-gold monorail will connect the area to the Congonhas airport next year. The hotel is also near São Paulo Congonhas great from domestic flights and a fantastic hotel to base yourself from.
The hotel also has a great indoor/outdoor pool. For being in the city the JW Marriott does a great job of creating an urban oasis. Something often not seen in this busy city. I love visiting and seeing family here, but finding the peaceful escapes with even a hint of nature can be hard!

Elite Recognition & Check-In
From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel valued. Elite recognition was on point, complimentary Executive Lounge access, late checkout, and a warm welcome gift. We went for some nuts and local beer over the points.
The lounge itself is a highlight: panoramic city views, a solid breakfast spread, and evening hors d’oeuvres that feel more curated than standard lounge fare. Throughout the day the lounge offers soft drinks, coffee, and fruit, salad, cakes, and sandwiches to keep guests well nourish. A great lounge that was never crowded.

The Room
My room featured floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking São Paulo’s skyline, a plush king bed, and a spacious work area with international outlets. The bathroom was equally impressive, with excellent water pressure and a sleek design that made it easy to unwind after a long day. Having the extra space in the Griffin suite was nice. Even if it was only for a 1 night stay.
Using my Marriott upgrade certificates I did request an upgrade to the Griffin Suite. The upgrade cleared which mean extra space to relax. I was originally upgraded to a Premium with bathtub room before applying my upgrade certificates. Having the upgrade certificates are a win and something I too often forget to use.
I did snap some photos of the room, but not until we were about the check out. Arriving at 3 in the morning after a 17 hour delayed flight, (yes 17 hours!!), I was too sleepy to remember to take photos first thing.

I also loved the view in the room. Overlooking the river and sky line, it was a great view in Sao Paulo. Plus the green park across the way was a nice change from the concrete jungle that I usually experience while in Sao Paulo. Although our stay was short (only about 14 hours) we lived in the room and use nearly all aspects of it!
Dining & Drinks
The JW Marriott Sao Paulo is home to Restaurant Neto. Reviewing the menu,Ii could see this being delicious, blending Italian and Brazilian flavors. Sadly I did not get to eat here due to our late arrival and opting to sleep in. Part of the restaurant next door in the lobby head to Bar Caju in the lobby. It’s vibrant, stylish, and perfect for a nightcap with live music and has a good vibe during the day as well.
