Las Vegas Centurion Lounge Expansion

by Rocky Horan
Last updated May 29, 2020

American Express Centurion lounges are temporary closed, but work does not stop. American Express expects lounges to fill up again and open soon. In the meantime, American Express is still pushing forward with new lounges at New York – JFK and Denver. In addition, the very first American Express Centurion lounge is being expanded. The Las Vegas Centurion lounge will receive a remodel and expansion in order to welcome more guests in a refreshed space.

The Las Vegas Centurion Lounge is currently 9,000 square feet. The new lounge will increase space by 50%. To be completed by 2021, the newly expanded Centurion lounge will be 13,400 square feet. From American Express, “the newly designed lounge will feature additional multi-purpose areas, new private telephone rooms, newly designed reception and workspace areas and more for Card Members to enjoy when their travels resume.”

Details of the expansion are sparse. From my understanding, the expansion will not hinder access to the current Lounge. Once Centurion Lounges reopen, the expansion work will continue behind the scenes. It is unknown what the “and more” refers to in the new space. Some could guess it would mean Spa services, but given the current environment, it’s unknown if Spa services will ever return. There’s not much social distancing when it comes to having a manicure or a massage.

Access to lounges do require an American Express Platinum card or some other eligible card.  Although the Platinum card may be nearly useless right now for travel, it is offering perks such as $20 off streaming services and $20 off monthly cellphone bills.
