National’s ONE TWO FREE Has New Ways to Earn Free Rentals

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated November 24, 2018

National Car Rental just announced registration for this fall’s One-Two-Free promotion, running from September 9 through January 31, which enables you to earn free rental days even faster. Normally, it takes five to seven rentals (of four days or less) to qualify for a single free day. With One-Two-Free that threshold is cut significantly.

With the transition to a points-based system, a free day requires 600 points. Each qualifying rental earns 300 points, so it’s still One-Two-Free. Book your rental using the new National mobile app to get a bonus 75 points per rental. Just downloading the app earns 25 points. And week-long rentals earn a bonus 200 points. Plus, there are even more ways to earn free rentals this year without even renting a car!

1-2-Free

You can get 300 points just by referring someone to register for the program (that person would still have to make a qualifying rental). If, say, six friends chose to register using your link from an email, Facebook, or Twitter, you could get 1,800 credits for three free days. Update your account information to choose electronic delivery or link your Facebook account to get some more bonus points.

Drive Alliance

What I found most interesting was that you could earn some points by reading up on the new Drive Alliance. At least it’s new to me, but I’ve been incommunicado for much of the last two weeks. It’s a program meant to share benefits among customers loyal to National, Enterprise, and Alamo — which are all owned by Enterprise Holdings. I’m surprised something like this hasn’t surfaced sooner given how much consolidation there has been in the rental industry. There are often cases where Enterprise or Alamo are significantly cheaper or even the only option in smaller markets.

Drive Alliance

I’m not exactly sure how Alamo factors into Drive Alliance, but at least with Enterprise and National you can earn credits toward free rental days when you book with either company. Tying back to One-Two-Free, you can get another 200 points for each rental from Enterprise.

Conclusion

There are many Terms & Conditions associated with this promotion since there are so many ways to earn. I recommend you check out the site to learn more. In the meantime, you can register for National’s One-Two-Free promotion. It’s not an affiliate link, so if you would like me to refer you so I get some bonus points, please send me an email instead.
