Scott Mackenzie and His Incredible Legacy
The creator of Travel Codex and HackMyTrip, Scott Mackenzie has been an incredible force in the travel space specifically with regard to miles and points. Through Travel Codex, Scott was able to create amazing guides to loyalty programs that made travel dreams possible for so many. He shepherded the transition from Upgrd.com (now defunct) to Travel Codex and the Boarding Area family. Through more than 1,400 posts over a decade and a half, Scott was a fair and credible voice of reason.
His effort and contributions are immeasurable, and my gratitude to him is incalculable. But the time has come to pass the torch to a new caretaker, and I am pleased to continue what Scott has built.
About Me
My name is Kyle Stewart and I’ve been a travel writer for 13 years. I currently write with Matthew Klint at LiveAndLetsFly.com, publishing on Sundays. I have been an entrepreneur for many years, and before that worked a corporate job like so many of our readers. I run Scott & Thomas Travel Personalized, a luxury travel agency and split time between Pittsburgh and Fort Myers when I’m not traveling. I am happily married to my wife of 17 years and have two children.
Many of the writers on this site have visited more countries than I have (67 at this point), been to more continents (6) and have experiences I have not yet been able to achieve. I hope to one day follow in their footsteps.
What Won’t Change
I have no intention to change the soul of Travel Codex, and what’s been built before me. There is no editorial board to run stories by, writers on the site are free to say what they feel even if I personally disagree with it.
Every writer for the site has been extended the opportunity to maintain their current content and encouraged to write more in the future. We remain focused on bringing unique topics, angles, and perspectives to the travel industry.
What Will Change
It’s my mission to update content that has not been refreshed in some time. This is a herculean pursuit but with help I am to to bring relevance to articles that add value to our readership. For example, we are likely to issue a new guide to a current loyalty program like United MileagePlus, but we won’t pursue updates to articles on the US Airways Dividend program.
Most of the rest of the changes will live behind the scenes serving the writers of the site so they can produce more content for our amazing readership. We may also add writers and blogs to the team from time-to-time.
Comment Policy
Comment moderation will remain limited. The site will not censor differing opinions, questions of clarity, nor regrettable commentary. However, threats of violence, unnecessary profanity, or personal attacks are subject to removal and/or banning. The decision of the creators and editors of this site are absolute.
The policy of Travel Codex will be to encourage discussion and discourse wherever it may lead, but blatant departures from the topic with no logical connection to the content are undesirable.
Thank You(s)
Scott’s content will continue to live on here and if he chooses to publish content, the door will remain open. I can’t possible thank him enough for his work on this amazing site over the years.
Thank you to the Travel Codex writers and contributors who have devoted so much time and effort to creating incredible content over the years and will in the future.
And thank you to the readers who make work on this site so rewarding. Without your patronage and support, there is no Travel Codex.
