Virgin America has launched an exciting new partnership with Hawaiian Airlines and now travelers can burn elevate points on every Hawaiian flight! The new partnership allows Elevate members to exchange as little as 20,000 points (~$4k in spending) for non-stop roundtrip flights to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines from any West Coast city that Hawaiian serves!
From the break down I found on the Virgin America website, it appears as though if the flight is nonstop from any of Hawaiian’s Gateways (Seattle, Portland, San Fran, Oakland, Phoenix, San Diego, LAX, Sacramento, Vegas, San Jose) then the ticket price is 20,000 elevate points. However if the flight requires an island hopper, for example Seattle-Honolulu-Lihue then its 26,000 points. From the East Coast (JFK) it’s 35,000 points to Honolulu and an additional 6000 points to any of the other islands. However the best part about this announcement is not the ability to fly to Hawaii, it’s the ability to fly beyond the islands!
With the new partnership, this opens up a slew of possibilities for flights to the South Pacific. Flights between the West Coast and the South Pacific islands of Pago Pago or Papeete are only 40,000 points and flights between North Eastern Asia and the west Coast are only 45,000 points, and SE Asia and the west coast are 55,000 points.
Now of course remember, points of Virgin America are earned per dollar spent and not per mile flown, so it can be slightly tougher to rack up a large amount of points. But nonetheless, this is just one more welcomed enhancement to the elevate program.
Also don’t forget Virgin America is offering an elite status match for American and United Elite flyers and you can earn and redeem points on Virgin Australia and Virgin Atlantic though the Virgin Alliance!
