Review: Qantas Business Lounge Perth

by Rocky Horan
Last updated December 5, 2017

Qantas operates Three lounges at Perth Airport. The first two is in Terminal four for domestic passengers and the other is in Terminal One for international departures. In Terminal four, the Qantas Business Lounge and The Qantas Club are for domestic passengers only. The lounges open each morning at 4:15 am and closes after the last departure around 11:30 pm.

The Qantas Business Lounge is accessible to domestic business class passengers departing on the same day, Qantas/Emirates Platinum members, OneWorld Emerald cardholders and first and business class passengers arriving from or connecting to an international Qantas or Emirates flight. Qantas Club members, OneWorld Sapphire Elites, and others can use the nearby and older Qantas Club.

The Business Lounge is a large oversize lounge and has the space to hold hundreds of people.  I was in the lounge in the morning, and the Qantas Business lounge was not very busy, but throughout the day the Qantas Lounge can become very crowded with many business travelers flying to Sydney, Perth, on widebody jets and several other narrow body aircraft departing all over Australia.

This is the lounge you will use before flying the Qantas 787 to Melbourne, at least until it starts flying to London.

There is plenty of seating in the lounge. Very few seats offer view of the tarmac. Either way, the lounge is set up for both being social or for the solo traveler.

Fresh Coffee is made by a dedicated barista. She stays very busy and the queue can get quiet long. You can download the app “Skip” to order a coffee and skip the line, or place an electronic order at the kiosk near the entrance to the lounge.

Qantas Business Lounge Bar

Unfortunately for me, the bar was not open at 9am, so I was unable to sample anything from Qantas. Qantas attempts to slow patrons drinking by only opening their bar at noon. No alcohol is available before noon.  However, the bar does look very well stock and everything is complimentary. If you are on an earlier flight, you’ll have to wait until you board for cocktail hour!

Qantas Lounge Food

The Perth Qantas Business Lounge has plenty of food to keep everyone happy. In the morning there is both warm and cold food options. The breakfast spread is massive for a domestic lounge. In the afternoon the lounge has pizza ovens and a baker who makes fresh Pizzas!

Qantas Lounge Showers

For those who need to freshen up before a flight, the Qantas lounge offers several showers. They are available first come first serve. Just walk up and find a clean and empty shower stall. There’s no need to ask the front desk or anyone for help. Afterall, by your age, you should know how to shower! The bathrooms and shower offer Aspar products. Each shower stall also has a toilet.

Final Thoughts

The Perth domestic business lounge is a great place to relax before a flight. There is everyone one would expect in an international lounge, yet instead for domestic flights! Eat up, relax, and enjoy the lounge!

The Perth Qantas Club is likely to be busy, but because arriving passengers no longer have access to the lounge, with the exception of OneWorld Emerald members, the lounge shouldn’t be overcrowded. After all, Perth is not a huge hub.
