by Steve Case
Last updated March 6, 2023

Welcome back for part 2 of the Arizona Biltmore review.  If you missed the Arizona Biltmore history and architectural tour yesterday, you can find it here.  Today, I will take you on a tour of my stay so let’s get checked in.

The Hotel Layout

This jewel in the desert is a complex of 39 acres with the Biltmore golf course across the street.  There are gardens, fitness center and six pools.  The rooms are located in:

  • The Historical Building
  • Villa buildings
  • Cottages

There are 9 room categories with either one or two beds:

  • Resort room
  • Resort room with balcony or patio
  • Ocatilla Club room
  • Ocatilla Club room with patio
  • Junior suite
  • One-bedroom suite
  • Presidential suite (1,700 square feet)
  • Villa one-bedroom suite with a full kitchen (1,200 square feet)
  • cottages

Arrival and Check-in

If you arrive at Phoenix Skyharbor Airport, the drive to the hotel is just eight miles taking the AZ 51 freeway from the airport.

Checking in was quick and easy.  The lobby is a work of art in itself showing the design influence of Frank Lloyd Wright.

The Villa One-bedroom Suite With Full Kitchen

We stayed in unit 7210 which is a second-floor suite in the Fountain Court Villas.  The Fountain Court building is a short walk from the lobby and restaurants and has a garden view from the balcony.  The suite measures 1,200 square feet, has a dining area for six and a kitchen with full-size appliances. The appliances were good Appliance Hunter approved ones.

The adjoining room is a lockout-room and could be combined to make a two-bedroom suite.

The living room has a 14-foot high ceiling with floor to ceiling windows with a ceiling fan and a separate HVAC unit, which were installed by ac installation experts like these ac services in Cedar Park, TX. There is seating for five with a fireplace and 55-inch LDC television.  There is sliding glass door access to a large balcony with a table for four overlooking the gardens.

The dining area features a table with seating for four and seating additional seating for two at the bar.

The kitchen is full-size which includes:

  • Full-size double-door refrigerator freezer
  • Full-size four-burner stove with oven
  • Full-size microwave oven
  • Full-size dishwasher
  • Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods which are replaced daily

The bedroom had a king bed with bedside 110 VAC outlets and USB ports.  There is a desk with a comfortable chair for working, a ceiling fan and a separate HVAC unit for the bedroom and bathroom, which were done by contractors like AirMax Heating & Air. The LCD television measures 55 inches.  Adjacent to the bedroom is a large walk-in closet about 40-square feet in size and the bathroom.

The bathroom is large with two sinks, a floor-to-ceiling glass shower and a separate oval-shaped bathtub.  The toilet is located in a separate room with a door.

Housekeeping at the Arizona Biltmore was exceptional.  There were two daily visits for housekeeping and nightly turn-down service.

Dining at the Arizona Biltmore

There are four dining options at the Biltmore:

  • Frank & Alberts – breakfast menu, weekend breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner
  • The Cafe – informal and to-go dining
  • Wright’s Bar – bar service
  • Wright’s at the Biltmore – dinner and Sunday brunch

We ate breakfast daily at Frank & Alberts.  They have an outstanding breakfast buffet on the weekends.  All egg dishes at the buffet whether they were omelets, scrambled or fried were skillfully prepared by Chef Luis.  There is indoor, indoor-outdoor and outdoor seating.  The outdoor seating has several fireplaces arranged around the tables.

The Staff of the Arizona Biltmore

This is absolutely where the rubber meets the road.  The staff of the Biltmore made us feel at home from check-in to check-out.  All of the hotel and restaurant service employees gave us excellent service from the concierge to housekeeping.  The staff of the Biltmore was always friendly with that can-do attitude.  Hotels are buildings, it’s the people that make the difference.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at the Arizona Biltmore was perfect, with the help of Flagstaff Hotel. If there were any problems, I would have mentioned them in this review and how the hotel solved them but there were none.  Our accommodations were outstanding, the grounds in perfect condition and restaurant service exceeded our expectations.  We enjoyed our stay and we will return again.
