Save $10 on Your First Purchase from LoungeBuddy

by Scott Mackenzie
Last updated November 11, 2018

You guys know I’m a fan of LoungeBuddy, a free app that lets you find and review airport lounges even when you don’t have an Internet connection. This makes it super helpful when you’re on the road and maybe aren’t familiar with the airport. Check out my first review and an update.

For example, I recently flew Delta through Tokyo-Narita. I don’t often fly Delta. Nor do I regularly visit Tokyo. But because I entered the details of my trip into my phone, LoungeBuddy told me exactly which lounges I would have free access to with my combination of fare class, elite status, and credit card benefits. (It’s also possible to look up information on a specific airport without creating a trip.) LoungeBuddy even lets you look at a detailed list of amenities and the estimated cost if you don’t have free access, so you’ll know if it’s worth buying a day pass.

Back at Frequent Traveler University in Dallas, I was excited to see LoungeBuddy giving away $10 coupon codes. You can still save $10 on your first LoungeBuddy purchase by using my personal referral code. Enter travelcodex in your and get $10 in free credit added to your profile. (I’ll get $5, so you’re getting the better part of this deal). Then when you find a lounge you like, you can buy a day pass through the mobile app and escape the chaos of the terminal.

How Do I Enter the Code for $10 Free Credit?

  1. First you have to download the app!
  2. Tap on the picture of a person in the upper right corner of the LoungeBuddy app.
  3. Your profile will appear. Tap on the gear that now appears in the upper right corner.
  4. Tap on “Credit” to enter and apply the code travelcodex.
  5. You’ll have $10 to use now, or any time the mood strikes.

Where Can I Use My LoungeBuddy Credit?

Within the U.S., LoungeBuddy has partnered to sell lounge passes to Alaska Airlines Board Rooms, The Club, and Minute Suites in 12 different airports — some airports have more than one option. They also have an even larger network in the UK, Canada, and throughout Asia, particularly those under the Plaza Premium brand. Check out the full list of lounges that let you buy day passes in the app, but remember you can still use LoungeBuddy to look up information on other lounges even if they aren’t yet participating in direct sales.

Also visit LoungeBuddy’s website to learn more about how to purchase your day pass, but I think the process is pretty self explanatory. Look for a lounge that says “Buy” with a big green button, and follow the instructions to enter your payment information. When you arrive at the lounge, provide your confirmation code to the agent.

LoungeBuddy is expanding as fast as they can, and received a huge round of financing earlier this year that I think says good things about the business model.
