This week I FINALLY had my chance to fly Singapore Airlines’ A380 Suites from Frankfurt to Singapore, and it’s one of the most unique first class experiences I’ve had. I’ve flown Singapore Airlines B777 First Class years ago. I liked it, but I also asked if it was overrated. Well, this time, I was like a kid on Christmas as Singapore Airlines A380 is one of the last First Class A380’s product that I had yet to fly, so finally it was my chance!!
As EVERYONE will tell you, the first thing that strikes you is the sheer amount of space. This isn’t a first class seat with a little extra room. It’s a private suite with floor-to-ceiling walls and doors, a massive leather armchair, and enough personal space that you never feel confined. Once the doors are closed, it genuinely feels more like a private room than an airline seat. Truly the closest thing to flying private you may ever get!
Singapore Airlines A380 Suite
The suite itself is beautifully designed. There are multiple storage compartments for laptops, cameras, and personal items, a large table for dining or working, numerous charging options, and a huge entertainment screen positioned directly in front of the seat. Every surface feels premium, and the layout is clearly designed around privacy. Unlike many first class products that simply offer a larger seat, Singapore Airlines has created a space where you can relax, work, dine, and sleep without constantly reconfiguring your environment. The chair swivels in all direction and reclines like a big lazyboy! It’s pretty darn cool over all and comfortable.
One of the standout features is the separate bed. Instead of converting your seat into a bed, the crew prepares a dedicated mattress behind the seat. It’s a luxury that very few airlines can match. Having a real bed means you can move between lounging in the chair and sleeping without sacrificing either experience. The only downside for me was that the mattress was surprisingly firm. I slept well (about 4.5 hours of 11), but it wasn’t quite the cloud-like experience I expected given the product’s legendary reputation.
The teddies are a nice touch, large down comforters and a mattress pad. This is among the best beds in the sky! Plus as a full size bed made for two, it allows you to cuddle up with your love one when cruising to your final destination. Just don’t get too many ideas and if you do be careful. There are holes in your door which passerbyers can peak through and walls do not go to the ceiling. Proceed with caution đ
Singapore Airlines Meals and Champagne
Dining was another highlight. Singapore Airlines continues to set the standard for service, and the meal experience felt more like dining in a fine restaurant than eating on an airplane. Courses were presented thoughtfully, tables were beautifully set, and the crew managed service with a level of polish that’s increasingly rare. There was never a sense of being rushed. Whether enjoying a meal, a glass of champagne, or a mid-flight snack, the experience felt personal and refined.
Upon take off I decided to celebrate the moment with a famous Singapore Sling. I didn’t like it and moved back to the bubbles! But hey, might as well try it while flying Singapore Airlines!
Next came my first course of Caviar with a side a bread. As we were flying from Frankfurt, I had to have a pretzel! After all leaving Germany without eating a pretzel would be pure blasphemy.
For my main course to start, I opted to not book the cook and instead eat the Kai Krapow of the main menu. It was spicy and well cooked. The perfect option for this flight!

Mid flight I did get hungry after my nap. As I didn’t over indulge earlier on. So it was time for a mid-flight snack which included dessert of San Sebastian cheesecake and Kway Teow. Both good, but the Kway Teow needed a little more spice and flavor. A bit bland to be honest.
Before Landing, I opted to book the cook and this was my lobster choice. Landing time was near 5pm in Singapore and breakfast and the standard menu did not look as good to me. Note this wasn’t the famous Lobster Thermador but the lighter lobster option. It was good, but I don’t know if I would order it again. I would likely go for something Asian inspired.

Singapore Airlines Champagne & Wine
The champagne selection was every bit as impressive as you’d expect in one of the world’s premier first class products. Singapore Airlines has long been known for taking its wine and champagne program seriously, and the Suites experience starts the moment you settle into your seat with a glass of premium Champagne. On my flight, the selection felt less like an airline beverage menu and more like a high-end wine bar, with multiple prestige labels available for passengers to choose from. For aviation geeks and wine enthusiasts alike, few airlines put this much effort into offering genuine choice at 35,000 feet. Recent Singapore Airlines Suites service has featured premium labels such as Krug Grande CuvĂ©e, Louis Roederer Cristal, Charles Heidsieck Blanc des MillĂ©naires, and Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, a lineup that rivals many luxury hotels and fine dining restaurants.
On this flight in August 2026 Singapore Airlines is serving Krug Grande Cuvée & 2014 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut. Both amazing!
What impressed me most wasn’t just the quality of the champagne, but how naturally it was integrated into the overall experience. A glass while boarding, another paired with dinner, and perhaps one more before turning in for the night made the flight feel less like transportation and more like an event. Combined with the privacy of the suite, it added to that feeling that you’re flying on a private jet, except with a far better wine cellar and a much larger cabin crew.

Final Thoughts
As incredible as the Singapore Airlines Suites are, I think they’re best suited for solo travelers. Singapore Airlines allows adjoining suites to be converted into a double suite for couples, but the overall design still feels focused on individual privacy rather than shared travel. There is so much personal space that, ironically, couples may find themselves more separated than together. Dining together, not really an option. The footprint devoted to a single passenger is extraordinary, but it can feel like an inefficient use of space when traveling with a partner.
That criticism is minor in the grand scheme. Flying Singapore Airlines’ A380 Suites feels remarkably close to flying private while retaining all the advantages of a world-class commercial airline. The service is exceptional, the suite is enormous, the dining is outstanding, and the overall experience remains one of the most impressive ways to cross half the globe. For solo travelers especially, it’s easy to see why the A380 Suites continue to hold such an iconic place in the world of first class travel.
