If ANYTHING good has come from TSA in the Post 9/11 world It’s TSA Pre✓! For the regular traveler or just the person who flies a few times a year, the ability to walk through airport security without violation of the 4th amendment is a nice change to flying since 9/11. Not to mention, just the ability to leave your shoes and belt on, and your laptop and other personal items in your bag is a nice change, plus a time saver. Also, if anyone has ever used TSA Pre✓, the agents are friendly, they tend to smile, and they make you actually feel like a person versus just a cow at the slaughterhouse.
So with that, Today Delta announced that TSA PreCheck is coming to 4 more cities this summer!
If you visit the TSA website, you can see a full list of cities that already have TSA Pre✓. You’ll notice that all four of these cities are already on the map as TSA Pre✓ cities, however these cities are just now teaming up with Delta in the program.
If you are not already enrolled in TSA Pre✓, the process is relatively easy. Just sign up for Global Entry ($100 application fee, interview and allow the collection of biometric data – finger prints) and then provide Delta, AA, US Airways, and United with your GOES (Global Entry) ID number in your profile under Known Traveler ID number. The screen shot below is taken from Delta.com. To get here go to Delta.com > Log in > Profile > About me
Once this is done, be sure the click the little box that allows the collection of your travel patterns and then select update. And then, before you know it, you’ll be saving time and taking one more headache out of traveling!
The addition of TSA Pre✓ at more cities is warmly welcomed! I just hope we can see it at all cities in the future, like San Diego, my new hometown airport (hint hint TSA :] ) However, just remember, that TSA determines your eligibility for inclusion in the program on a per-flight-segment basis, and enrollment in the program does not guarantee you will receive expedited screening during travel in Pre✓ cities. However, thus far, I’m 20/20, so the odds are pretty good!
