United Airlines: “Operational Difficulties”

by Brad
Last updated January 26, 2019

Yep, another post about United’s poor operational record.  This isn’t the first time I’ve written about issues like this.  Nor is it the second, or the third, fourth, fifth or sixth instance.

United Airlines Operational Difficulties

I believe it is better to laugh than to cry, and I was entertained by this, so I’ll give due credit.  At least this time the delay was classified in an honest manner in the United app:

Hence the title of this post, “United Airlines Operational Difficulties”

I’m not sure if I’m just beyond caring or just totally beaten down and used to the frequency that I experience delays.  As much of a pain travel on United has been of late, I believe it has been somewhat better than it was last year at least for my own experience..  I haven’t compiled any statistics to prove that, that’s just my assumption.

On this particular flight, departure was delayed somewhat further from the photo above.  Even worse, we had a long taxi delay before finally taking off.  I’ve noticed this a lot lately at O’Hare, in particular when runway 9L/27R is used, which requires at least 10 or so minutes to get to from the terminals.  Ultimately for this flight, we landed nearly an a hour after our scheduled time.   Operational difficulties indeed.

What’s been your experience with United lately?  I realize there are thousands of flights each day, and opinions are formed on small experiences, but I think the general consensus is that the United operation continues to struggle much of the time.

Bottom line

Despite countless issues, I still have a special place in my heart for United.  I can’t help it, we have a long history.   It wasn’t the first airline I had elite status on, but I’ve flown with United more than any other airline by far.  I fully admit that I am a pretty sentimental guy.  I like United’s new safety video, and I’m about to reach a significant milestone with them.  More details to come soon.
