United has caved in to Delta and Alaska and joins the fight for West Coast market share by trying to lure passengers with double miles offerings on select routes. The fight initiated when Delta announced they were going to move in on long time Alaska “safe” routes and launch a number of new routes from Seattle. In doing so, Delta also decided to offer double redeemable miles on the new routes. Alaska quickly retaliated with offering double redeemable miles and double elite miles on the same routes, then Delta matched and made their double miles bonus for both as well. Now, United has decided to join in this fight and today announced that they would offer double miles from Seattle as well!
