United Airlines Is Finally Redeeming Itself

by Rocky Horan
Last updated March 28, 2018

Is it just me, or are things FINALLY starting to get better over at Continental/United? I had not flown their airline since I flew to the Philippines last year and had a less than desirable experience. Yet, this week, while flying from San Diego to Houston and then onward to Chicago on the 787 I had a WONDERFUL in-flight experience and enjoyed some truly top-notch flight attendants!

My flight from San Diego to Houston was on a Boeing 737-900 with the (old) continental satellite TVs and an ex-con crew. Sitting in first class, the satellite TV was free and the crew was attentive & friendly! Everyone was all smiles, friendly, considerate, and extremely attentive the needs of every guest! The FAs were visible in the aisles ever 10-20 minutes and not once did my drink glass even come near empty before I was offered a refill! Service was not done in the FEBO format (front first on even number flights, back first on odd number flights) as it was supposed to be, yet I was still able to get my meal of choosing despite being in row 4of 6 (Yes, I know #FirstWorldProblems).

The flight was a mere 3 hours and before I knew it we were on the ground in Houston! It was an extremely comfortable flight and I will say for the first time since the merger, I might actually consider flying United again! Despite my previous experience, United reproved themselves as a reputable airline! Not to mention, the breakfast was delicious! I can’t recall the last time I had this good of a breakfast at 30,000 feet! Way to Go United.
