If everything goes as planned, next week I will be flying on the recently grounded but finally flying Boeing 787 Dreamliner! While planning a get away, using miles, I noticed that next week United’s 787 will be making revenue test runs between Denver and Houston, Houston and Chicago, and Los Angeles and Houston. This is sooner than May 31st, the day Rohan had stated United would relaunch domestic operations and the best part is there is TONS of award space open on these flights! So I’m flying SAN-IAH-ORD-FRA instead of the more direct route SAN-ORD-FRA so I can enjoy this new aircraft. Although I won’t get to enjoy all the benefits of the 787 nor will I enjoy United’s new hard product for more than a couple of hours, the short time on the plane is totally worth going out of the way to enjoy! After all it’s bragging rights….right?
The 787 schedule between the three city pairs is dynamic and changes most days between 5/21 and 6/1 when the first long distance transpacific United 787 flight will depart from Denver to Tokyo. Most of the routes listed below operate daily, however even some that are listed as daily are only daily for three or four days and then are replaced by a different route number and time. I tried to comprise a complete list, however there may be some errors as I did not go through every day from 5/21-6/1. Despite this, here is a shot at the 787 domestic schedule starting next week.
|Start Date||Route||Flight #||departure time||Arrival Time||Frequency|
|5/21/2013||DEN-IAH||UA1271||14:25||17:47||This day only|
|5/23/2013||IAH-DEN||UA1288||9:15||10:49||This day only|
|5/20/2013||IAH-ORD||UA1||11:00||13:35||This day only|
|5/20/2013||ORD-IAH||UA2||15:40||18:25||This day only|
|5/24/2013||IAH-LAX||UA133||20:35||22:21||This day only|
I hope that some of you, like me, will be able to fly on the 787 and enjoy the new aircraft! Get on board and upgrade your flying experience! I know I am and I’m just happy to add this aircraft to my ever growing list!
