Very Important Baby Service at the Park Hyatt Zürich

by Brad
Last updated January 4, 2019

Our daughter is always important to us of course.  It was nice to have a hotel that advertised and delivered making her important as well.  We had a lovely stay at the Park Hyatt Zürich on our recent family trip to Europe and took advantage of their Very Important Baby service.

Upon your arrival a baby bed, a baby bathtub with care products and a changing pad will be placed in your room. On request, we can also provide you with a high chair, a baby bottle warmer and nappies.

We didn’t take advantage of all the items offered, already carrying our own diapers/nappies.  But this was quite nice for our stay there, and we haven’t seen anything this extensive offered elsewhere.

I won’t go into a detailed review of the property, since Matthew has already provided a thorough review of this top notch hotel.  We had visited the Park Hyatt Zurich before, but this time, we actually had our luggage with us, and were spending a few days in town.

As a reminder, we booked this hotel using one free night I earned for having visited 75 Hyatt unique properties, and the other night with points. Thanks to the free night plus a promotion for Hyatt credit card holders, we got 2 nights at the Category 7 property for a total of 24,000 Gold Passport points, which I consider an excellent value.

We wanted spend a few days elsewhere in Europe on this trip, and motivated by the free Hyatt night, we wanted to go somewhere with a nice Hyatt hotel. The Park Hyatt Vendôme was our first choice, but we couldn’t find any available for a room at the base level.  Ultimately we decided on the Park Hyatt Zürich.  We really liked this place when we stayed before, so this was where we decided to stay.  Yeah, I’m weird to plan a destination based on the hotel, but tell me something I don’t know.  Other than being exceedingly expensive, Zürich is a nice place to visit, and our last trip didn’t really do it justice.  I’ll do a review of the city in another post.

Very Important Baby amenities in the room

Once we checked in, we went upstairs to our Park Deluxe room (a one-category upgrade for free) and dropped off our bags.  While there was a fruit basket waiting for us, there were many more goodies in the room for my daughter.

Also a bottle warmer  and some baby lotions, etc

Then in the bathroom we decked out too, with a nice little bathtub and a rubber duck!

Plus there was a “stink-free” bin for used diapers.

plus a step stool (not useful for us yet), but nice for older kids.

I think she was pleased with all the goodies in the room.  VIB indeed.

Besides the nice features for our daughter, my wife and I enjoyed our time in this excellent hotel.  At check in, we received a card for a free drink in the bar. One night we took advantage of that. Sitting in a nice cocktail lounge with a baby was a new experience for us. Thankfully she charmed the staff, and one of them even took our daughter for a short tour around the bar area so we had a short break with just ourselves. Of course, we couldn’t stay out late. We wanted to have one more drink, so we ordered our last round to go. Then finished them in the room while the baby slept.

Room Service Breakfast

Finally on our last morning at the hotel, we were leaving before restaurant was open, we ordered room service.  This isn’t their standard policy, but they agreed that we would not be charged for this meal, since breakfast is free for those Hyatt Diamond status.  This typically doesn’t include room service.

We each had Bircher Müesli, plus eggs.  There was a bread basket, and a toaster.  We each had our own tea pot and freshly squeezed orange juice.  It wasn’t as nice as a leisurely breakfast, but it worked for our scheduled based on the limited time we had.  It was a little over the top, but I enjoyed this special tral in this luxury hotel.

The Park Hyatt brand remains my favorite of any I’ve stayed in.  The Zürich property is excellent, and along with the Park Hyatt Tokyo, among my favorite hotels in the world.  Baby or not, this is an excellent hotel.  We got a great deal, and the nice touches they provided for us traveling with our daughter were really special.
