I recently returned from a trip to Australia and New Zealand, and am currently in the process of posting trip reports from my journey. Most recently, V Australia Business Class from LAX to Sydney.
Until now, there have been various names for the airlines owned by the Australian version of Virgin, depending on their destination. Domestic Australia flights used to be known as Virgin Blue, have been renamed Virgin Australia for a few months, and their planes are in the process of being repainted into the new livery.
Now, the international airlines are being rebranded. V Australia, which flies primarily between LAX and Australia and Pacific Blue, which is based in New Zealand flying between Australia and New Zealand and a few destinations in South Asia. Both of these are now fall under then Virgin Australia banner. (Also, the airline formerly known as Polynesian Blue, primarily flying between Samoa, Australia and New Zealand and partially owned by the Samoan Government is now known as Virgin Samoa). This became official on December 8, 2011, although its has been in the works for some time.
In fact, my return V Australia flight in mid-November from Sydney to LAX was on a repainted plane.

Today we commence the rollout of a brand new travel experience for our international Guests.
We are thrilled to relaunch our international airlines V Australia and Pacific Blue under our brand, Virgin Australia, and to partner with the Samoan Government in re-launching Polynesian Blue under the new brand of Virgin Samoa.
Please be assured that any bookings for travel with Virgin Australia and Virgin Samoa will not be affected as a result of the relaunch, however there will be some changes to the look and feel of the airline, including:
Fresh new Virgin Australia signage at our international ports,
New-look travel documents,
One consolidated Virgin Australia website where you can make bookings for all of our airlines.
If you are flying V Australia, Pacific Blue or Polynesian Blue please check the flight information displays for the correct check-in desk and flight number when you arrive at the airport. Directional signage and our friendly ground crew will be there to help you on your journey.
The consolidation of the brand is an exciting milestone in our transformation to a contemporary, dynamic airline with a product to compete with the best worldwide. You will see further changes in 2012 as we continue to refurbish our fleet of aircraft and enhance the travel experience in the air and on the ground.
