The comforts of home when traveling is what I always seek in a hotel, yet rarely find at most properties, but this is not the case at the Walnut Creek Marriott where customer service and homeyness supersedes all norms of a large corporate hotel. Instead, the Walnut Creek Marriott is not only all business and professional, but the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that from check-in to check-out, every part of your stay is perfect. It’s the first hotel I’ve ever stayed in where the majority of the staff, from the bar-tender to the housekeepers to the front desk personal, take the time to learn guests by name and then constantly greet guests by not only first name, but even last Name!
The Walnut Creek Marriott Hotel is a full service hotel offering all the amenities needed for both business travelers and families visiting the San Francisco East Bay or even for travelers visiting the San Francisco and Oakland areas who want easy access to the city (Thanks to the BART) but don’t want to stay in the city. The convenient location near Downtown Walnut Creek and the BART station makes shopping, dining, exploring the area, and transit to and from the city and airport a breeze, making this location ideal for just about everyone! Not to mention, the hotel has the one and ONLY stretch all-electric Nissan Leafs that I have ever seen, meaning heads turn when the hotel drives you around in their complimentary shuttle service!
The hotel offers all the bells and whistles to make a conference or a family vacation a success. A number of conference rooms are located throughout the facilities included large ball rooms for larger gathering and outstanding catering services! Like I said, this hotel truly offers everything!
The lobby of the hotel is a grand atrium with an all glass ceiling allowing sunlight to naturally filter in and brighten up the entire area. There’s a bar and a full service restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and even a happy hour! With full service each night till midnight or later, the delicious food is not to be missed! Each night the lobby is lively and full of guests entertaining themselves. The staff is so welcoming, the bar and restart feels like your local bar or favorite restaurant from back home. It doesn’t matter if you’re staying for the night or for a month, you’ll fit right in and feel at home, immediately. Not to mention the food is delicious and the mixologist, Cavo, is spot on, making up the best dirty martini I’ve had to date!
The rooms at the hotel are also very comfortable offering the amenities needed to make every stay comfortable. I had a room with two double beds overlooking the local hills. Each morning I was fortunate to watch the sunrise out over the horizon from my room. The view, absolutely breathtaking! The beds are comfortable and the pillows are all feather and extremely soft; maybe even too soft depending on your likings.
The room also includes everything else to make your stay comfortable including a mini fridge, a dresser, a 42” flat screen TV (I’m guessing on the size, but either way it was perfect size for the room), a chair for lounging, and desk workspace. Each room has a spacious bathroom with a tub/shower combo and the bathrooms were great! Definitely not claustrophobic like many hotel bathrooms!
The Hotel also features a number of other amenities including one of the nicest gyms I have ever seen in a hotel with 15+ cardio machines, circuit lifestyle fitness machines that target every muscle group and a large selection of free weight dumbbells and weight and pulley machine. Meaning, for those fitness freaks on the road, you will not be disappointed or have to fear about leaving your local gym at home! Outside, above the gym, is a large pool and Jacuzzi, which is open daily until 10pm and is a great place to relax and soak up the warm California sun or for the kids to splash around. The hotel also features a cozy concierge lounge offering complimentary breakfast in the morning and a complimentary happy hour in the evening. The lounge also offers stellar views of the surrounding hills and small outdoor patio which is a great place to unwind after a long work day!
The Walnut Creek Marriot is honestly among my favorite hotels I have stayed in a long time. With by far the most attentive staff and best crew of people, the staff is all smiles and always professional and extremely responsive. When my door lock constantly was not responding to my key cards, engineer responded within minutes. The attentive staff does not overlook anything! Even the housekeepers stayed late to clean the rooms of my fellow employees who slept all day and worked all night. Honestly, exceeding all expectations!
If you’re looking for a great hotel, that is more than comfortable and has a fabulous crew, look no further. No matter the occasion, The Walnut Creek will meet and exceed all your expectations!
